A sterling collection of several excellent British WW II films
Over the years I have with effort to see a large number of British films and had seen four of the five films in this collection. In all four cases, however, the print I saw was vastly inferior to the superb prints contained in this fascinating set of films. So far I've seen three sets of DVDs from Ealing: one featuring the films of Alec Guinness, another containing several non-Guinness ...

Film's Candid Depiction of Race Issues Is Timely
I nominated this film for the National Film Registry. Though 'Birth of a Nation' and 'Gone With the Wind' are probably considered the most well-known race depiction films, 'The Well' should be better known as it is just as informative as these older classics. Other viewers failed to note that despite the wooden acting, one of the films finest attributes is its unsparing view of human ...

Fantastic Biography Of A Fantastic Man.
As a long-time reader of H.G.Wells, I have often wondered about the person himself. "The Infinite Worlds Of H.G.Wells", although dramatically treated for entertainment purposes, certainly illustrated the intrinsic genius of the man as well as his ability, in spite of his far-out writings, to be a total human being. From the point of view of the production itself, I found it excellent in every ...

A Real Gem
I remember watching this movie fondly while growing up in the 1960s. So, when I saw this finally advertised at a phenomenal price, I had to own it. Well, I'm glad I did. I had forgotten how funny and campy this movie is. Sure you can see the wires holding them up. Yes, those bug creatures look like small children in oversized bug pajamas. And of course it's good to carry chickens with you to the ...

Our Gang does H. G. Wells
Remember how the gang in the "Little Rascals" shorts would "put on a show" to earn some money and the show would be staged with cheap home-made props and laughably terrible performances? Well that "let's put on a show" spirit survives in the Pendragon version of WotW. Unfortunatly the home made props and bad performances also survived. I really wanted to like this DVD because the idea of doing ...

WEARY WHODUNIT
Mary Higgins Clark is one of the world's most read suspense writers, and some made for TV movies of her books have surfaced. WE'LL MEET AGAIN is an okay entry but it's cast isn't up to the material; most of them perform lethargically and don't compel us to feel for their characters. Brandy Ledford plays a sexy young woman who is sentenced for the death of her doctor husband. She can't remember ...

Junior Wells and Buddy Guy in the 1980s
This is the new offering from Blues Legends. Previously they have issued DVDs on Freddie King, Albert King and Memphis Slim with Sonny Boy Williamson. This concert is set at a place called Nightstage and they perform for 71 minutes. Footage of Buddy Guy as a younger player and concerts of Buddy with Junior Wells during their extended partnership are rather scarce. They have several snippets of ...

Three well-designed 20-minute yoga practices
Yoga Journal's Yoga for Well-Being offers three short (20 minutes each) yoga sequences, each with a different area of focus. The practices are led by yoga instructor and Yoga Journal contributing editor Jason Crandell, who provides instruction via voiceover while model Kathryn Budig demonstrates the postures. Each sequence begins with a very brief introduction by Crandell and then flows right ...

Lives in the balance - the delicate struggle to obtain a future in America
On average, maybe one in two hundred applicants are ever admitted to the United States as a refugee. The official definition of a refugee is someone who is afraid to go home for fear of persecution on account of race, religion, nationality, social group or political opinion. Any foreigner who finds a way into the United States may apply for refugee protection in the form of political asylum and ...

A must for a War of the worlds fan.
Great actors, good solid screen play based on a great novel, OK visible effects without over using them. C. Thomas Howell, Peter Greene, Jake Busey and Andy Lauer are good actors who WANT these parts. Tinarie Van Wyk-Loots looks good topless and Rhett Giles makes a good priest. The decision to allow us to meet the priest while he still has his faith is a good one and I feel the movie does a ...

Must have in collection...
Those who love Bach and possibly the greatest masterpiece for the pianoforte, the Well Tempered Clavier will find this to be a gem. 4 different players each with different styles, contrasting each other. There was good balance of focus on the hands and other parts of the body. Personally I found Demidenko's and Hewitt's performances to be superb. Hewitt's interpretation of the P&F #14 ...

I had a Death Cab for Cutie phase, so this DVD was perfect. If you're only semi into them, or only like a few songs, you might not like the DVD. If they're at the top or near the top of your list of good music these days, I'd recommend it.

While uncovering every aspect of the Vioxx disaster and other prescription drug tragedies, this film exposes the dark corners of the pharmaceutical industry. You will see how American people die from side effects of drugs they do not need while drug companies count billions of dollars in profits. Everyone taking prescription drugs will be deeply and forever touched by this documentary film.

Brutality and everyday people
"Went the Day Well?" is incredibly suspenseful, historically fascinating, and surprisingly harsh. It is a no-nonsense film made for a wartime populace. While it incidentally packs in a lot of propaganda advice (how to spot suspicious activity, what to do in a military emergency, the importance of "doing your bit" for the country), the major drive of "Went the Day Well?" is to psychologically ...
Living Well with Bipolar Disorder: A New Look

Good choice for beginners, esp those with trouble focusing
This is a great bipolar intro dvd. I purchased this because my family member has trouble focusing long enough to read/understand a book, so I thought a movie would be easiest. She really really enjoyed it and was able to grasp a good part of it. It helped seeing others with the condition and hearing their stories. It gave us a good idea of the condition, without overwhelming or distressing us.

Good but extremely basic
Dr. Weil has a very sensible and holistic approach to eating which is well explained in this program. I like his emphasis on debunking fad diets and on making eating pleasurable and socially integrative. He covers all the basic concepts related to healthy eating competently and clearly. I personally was hoping for something more advanced, since the information in this video is really oriented ...

Great
Akira Kurosawa's 1960 black and white film, The Bad Sleep Well (Warui Yatsu Hodo Yoku Nemuru), is often compared to William Shakespeare's Hamlet, but it's an inapt comparison for, while Shakespeare's play has a higher sense of poetry, Kurosawa's film has far more relevance, realism, and complexity, even if, like Hamlet, it's a high class melodrama. The film was written by Kurosawa and four ...
