A tough, gritty blaxploitation classic not to be missed
Black Caesar (1973) is one heck of a good movie. I hate the term blaxploitation that is used to describe movies of this genre because it implies that these sorts of films are somehow second-class entries in the world of cinema. Black Caesar is a first-class ride from start to finish, taking as much from classic gangster films of the 1930s and 1940s as it does from earlier blaxploitation films ...

Gangstas and the Man
BRENTWOOD 10 Movie Packs offer a variety of cinematic genres at bargain prices. Video transfers of their "B" movies are pretty decent, as is sound. The manufacturer's hinged boxes house DVDs adequately, but be careful the hinged sections don't pull away from the main spine! They're not that easy to reassemble. SYNOPSES for LIVIN' DA LIFE: "Bang" - Four police officers are kidnapped by gang ...

Live Lecture Conveying Hope and Magic
"Fairytales are actually metaphysical information given to all of us if we actually look at what they say." - From the DVD According to author Marianne Williamson, the very thought that miracles CAN happen is an extraordinary empowerment, if we allow it to be. This concept is much like the "magic wands" of fairytales like Cinderella whereby mice turn into coachmen, pumpkins into coaches, and ...

Helpful DVD
This DVD has really helped balance out my tightness from training for multiple triathlons. I have learned how to effectively stretch my (very) tight muscles and strengthen the muscles which I don't normally use in my sport. I would highly recommend this DVD to any level triathlete...or any type of athlete at all!

Great DVD! Buy it!
Great DVD with excellent performances by Memphis Slim and Sonny Boy Williamson. The backing provided by Matt 'Guitar' Murphy on guitar and by Bill Stepney on drums (Willie Dixon jumps in on bass on two cuts) works prefectly and makes the performances very tight. Memphis Slim is terrific but it is Sonny Boy who steals the show! Sonny Boy also plays three songs with two swedish musicians, who ...

A Decent Introduction to ACIM, but Old Material
Sadly the production values of this DVD are not very high, and the docudrama stuff with Helen is essentially unwatchable. So, if you buy it, do so with low expectations. That said, I watched it twice and enjoyed the historic material and interviews. If you're a Course student, buy it and resell it. Peace to you.

Kind of grainy on picture. I guess expected due to the time period. Richard Pyror at his funniest though to me did not mix well with The Hammer's tough guy image. Good funny western to pass away the time. Good collection piece for 70"s collectors like myself.

good starring vehicle for "Hammer" Williamson--
this was Fred Williamson's first major lead role, following supporting roles in films and TV like M*A*S*H and JULIA. In this, he's B.J. Hammer; a Philadelphia transplant now earning a living as a dockworker in Los Angeles, he stumbles on a mob "protection" shakedown at his job. After beating up a roughneck, he's introduced to a local "fixer", Big Sid (Charles Lampkin) , a boxing manager who ...

Where are the reviews?
I remember the first time I was introduced to the music of The String Band in the summer of '69 up in the Rocky Mts of Canada. At that time, I admired the Incredibles' interest in folk/ethnic musicology as I had also begun listening to Albanian, Bosnian, Romanian, Turkish, Iranian and Indian folk recordings at my university's record library. Now, after all these years, I have finally got to ...

Nine Black Action Movies of Public Domain Goodness
Black Action Cinema is a collection of nine black action movies that have only one thing in common: they are all public domain and as such it is possible for them to be presented in highly affordable collections. I paid $9.98 for my set and that comes down to about a dollar per movie. The way that movie tickets cost nowadays, you really cannot complain about this collection. An added bonus of ...

Calling all cheese lovers!
God, I love these cheesy Italian post-apocalyptic actioners! I can't get enough of the lousy special effects, the ludicrous dialogue, the ham-fisted action sequences, the outrageous costumes, and the supremely bad dubbing! I owe Media Blasters a kiss on the cheek and a pat on the back for digging these clunkers up, cleaning up the picture, and transferring them to DVD with scads of extras. They ...

I applaud Ellen Page's performance and just want to keep applauding.
I've been meaning to see this 2007 award-winning film for a long time. I'm glad I finally did. This is a comedy but it is more than that. It is a heartwarming story of an off-beat and lovable 16-year old girl who becomes pregnant. She is exceptionally wise and savvy with one of the most lovable personalities I have ever seen on the scene. Ellen Page is cast in this role and is absolutely ...

what the deal is
I thought this movie was preety good. Fred did a great job with his charater Jefferson Bolt, and the story board was as good as his former 70's movies' like hell up in harlem, and black Ceaser. If your a Fred Willaimson fan, then this is difinitely one of his movie's you should add to your collection.

Very Good Sci-FIc "B" movie.
If you're really a sci-fic fan, then this is really a pretty good "B" movie. Of course it's not an Alien or Star Trek. I liked it, and I'm not a rainy day sci-fic fan, either.
