DVD: Wishbone "Hot Diggety Dawg"1 review

Big Feats Entertainment, 2004

Best show for pre-teen readers
I thought Wishbone was a clever idea that was never quite marketed right. The show itself was a terrific gem that aired on PBS, but it was for an odd age group. PBS Kids is brilliant at shows for younger children, but this seemed to slip through the cracks. A shame, because I felt it was a terrific way of getting kids who were on the cusp of deciding if reading was cool, to think it was. ...

Finally, Wishbone on DVD
Wishbone is a little Jack Russell terrier with a big imagination. He's the star of a wonderful PBS children's show that helps introduce kids to classic literature. In this episode he imagines himself to be Professor Otto Liedenbrock who leads his nephew on an incredible subterranean journey. I can't say enough about how wonderful the Wishbone TV series is. This little dog has more expression ...

Wishbone Films are Excellent for Children
I grew up watching Wishbone films on the Public Broadcasting Station, which aired the programs between 1995-2001. Unfortunately, I am now unable to find these episodes on most media markets (a few episodes may be found on YouTube). I enjoyed Wishbone because each episode gave a basic view of the plot of a classic work of literature. This episode, "The Impawssible Dream" gives a small portion ...

The Ultimate Collection1 review
Wishbone Ash

Classic Rock Legends, 2006

Not that great. For die hards only.
A whole lot of post Martin Turner/Ted Turner material. Too much, actually, to be an accurate representation of the whole of WA's material. Some ok interviews, but this is definitly only for hardcore WA fans. Casual fans may find themselves yawning thru much of this.

Like stepping back in time
I have listened to Wishbone Ash for many years now and it is great to see them play live even though it is on DVD. I always wanted to see them live but this is the next best thing. It is like having a time machine when you see the old footage and the playing and singing is excellent. After viewing this DVD I also purchased the reunion DVD from the eighties and it is excellent as well. If you are ...

Paw Prints of Thieves & Hot Diggety Dawg
You would not think that a children's show would be fun to watch for an adult but Wishbone just makes you laugh. It really gives a fine decription of the story but also entertains you to the end. With the amount of garbage in children shows, it's a blessing to find a program that is of value to children and adults.

Wishbone: Hunchdog of Notre Dame/The Impawssible Dream8 reviews
Wishbone

Lyons / Hit Ent., 2005

One of the best television shows of all time!
"Wishbone" is the name of a terrier that lives with his human family, a boy named Joe and Joe's widowed mother, Ellen, who is a librarian. This excellent series follows the adventures of Wishbone, Joe, and Ellen in their daily lives and illustrates the relevance of classic literature to pre-teens. As Joe faces a challenge at school or with a friend, Wishbone "dreams" of a similar situation faced ...

Wishbone - Paw Prints of Thieves
Wishbone is a jack russell who imagines himself as characters in different works of literature. In this story, he imagines himself as Robin Hood. This is a great series for children, because it teaches them about literature. It is also a great series for anyone who loves animals. This is one of my favorites, and I definitely think it's worth buying.

Wishbone Ash

Bhm Productions, 2007

Healing Ground
Whatever Andy Powell and Wishbone Ash have been working towards since the Illuminations CD in the mid-90's, I'd say they have finally found it. This DVD is awesome, and is superior to the excellent DVD "Almighty Blues." Simply put, Andy Powell and his new bunch of mates have been able to equal (and sometines exceed) the sound of the original Wishbone Ash lineup that recorded "Argus." No 5.1 ...

Wishbone Ash

Classic Rock Legends, 2003

Wishbone Ash Revitalized
This is a great show with good video and sound production. It's very exciting to watch. The only original member is, my favorite, Mr. Andy Powell. However, Ben Granfelt is a great addition on guitar, Bob Skeat is great on bass, and Ray Westin is perfect on drums. Overall the strongest Wishbone Ash line-up in quite a few years. The DVD is mostly from a recent soldout show in London at a medium ...

The Original Wishbone Ash Reunited, Live in the UK, 1989
This is an absolutely phenominal DVD by one of the greatest bands ever! The song selection is excellent.Any fan of the band will be thrilled by the songs played. People unfamiliar with Wishbone Ash will be blown away by stellar performances of many of their best songs. The sound is very good. The camera work, ditto. My only complaint is the same as my critiques of the shows I saw on this tour: ...

Straight ROCK ...Straight in the face
Classic rock though classic has not faded away. Whenever the twin guitars roar , it raises its head and punches the neorock in thier face. THIS IS ROCK ! Not Metal but ROCK. This is a great DVD , worth collecting not only for the music and workmanship but just for the mere fact that is has become so freaking rare. technically brilliant. Great stage pressence and crystal clear video and audio. 30 ...

Wishbone Ash

Wishbone Ash in their prime
When I found out this dvd was available, I freaked. Great price lured me in. The performances are superb, not carbon copies of the originals but very good. Laurie Wisefield shows off his considerable prowess as an axe man, amazing. The downside is two-fold: Running time of about 55m/Average sound quality with some balance problems mar what is otherwise a godsend to WA fans. A must have for fans.

Wishbone Ash

Music Video Distribu, 2005

Wishbone Ash the What Happened
I bought this DVD for the lost archive footage and to see and hear the early works. There was very little concert footage and an endless barrage of useless opinions from various magazine editors and pros. I was very disappointed at the choice of songs of concert footage also. You don't get a single song in its entirety. The early Ash like the songs from their first and greatest album, Wishbone ...

Argus
This dvd has interviews with some original members as well as live footage from different eras of the band. It talks about the Wishbone sound and how it came to be with the guitars and vocal arrangements. It goes into the studio to hear what went on in the recording process. It also talks about the two previous albums and what lead up to the classic Argus as well as behind the lyrics and album ...
