et in arcadia ego
Wonder Woman rose like a phoenix from the ashes of the 1970s. I, as an underprivileged kid of the 1970s (weren't we all, some way, somehow?) sat on the beat-up, threadbare burgundy burlap couch in the small living room of my parents' rented house. My parents fought all the time and called each other names and my dad was always losing jobs and always angry and frustrated with his life and I ...

pure genius
Having just watched the season one pilot for the first time in years, I've come to a much better understanding of many things. Firstly, Lynda Carter's is a genius performance, and I do NOT use the word lightly. Secondly, the film-makers achieved a camp masterpiece. Camp must be carefully distinguished from kitsch. Camp is NOT the enjoyment of badness. Camp is, like the Roxy Music aesthetic, ...

Some excellent episodes
If you are considering getting a Wonder Pets DVD, this is the one to get. Besides the magical Nutcracker episode, it also has some of the best Wonder Pets episodes ever created: The Adventures of Bee and Slug, and the Pangaroo. The Wonder Pets Save the Bengal Tiger (on a different DVD) is also an excellent episode.

Esoteric, transcendental, spiritual fable
This movie has really grown on me. I liked it when I first saw it, but didn't really see it as the classic it appeared to want to be. But, as with many great movies, it is deceptively better than it first appears to be. The movie deals with loss, grief, change, acceptance, and the continuity of life. These themes are not dealt with head-on...they are just woven into the plot, lightened up ...

Good DVD for winter "inside" time
Good length of episodes (about 1.5 hours total of all), my 2.5 year old son loves the Wonder Pets. This DVD included several episodes we haven't seen on TV (Nick Jr/Noggin). Shipping was fast also.

Wonder Woman
I bought these when my son told me that girls could not be super heros. My Daughter loves them and my son now knows that women can be super heros too. Added benefit is that first season takes place during World War 2. My kids are asking me so many questions about what that was all about. Really cheesey series but lots of fun. Musical Adventure
Great show, for young children. Kids learn about sharing, teamwork, and also about all kinds of animals. The episodes aren't too long, about 10-12 minutes, just right for younger attention spans. My 2 year old loves them!

Must have cult classic...
I came across this movie by accident years ago on tv and fell in love...so I finally bought it and have watched it several times over now. If you like 1960's NY themed movies you will love this one! And you will love the music!

Incendiary, madcap genius
On the surface, Wonder Showzen seems like a cutely subversive idea: take the format of a children's show such as Sesame Street or Teletubbies and mutate it into an ultra-warped work of black comedy. But the truth is that Wonder Showzen is something much more. Even as shows like The Sopranos and Lost push the envelope for quality and craft in television, the airwaves are still awash in tired, ...

Season 2: Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger
If you watched 3 minutes of any one show you might think this is the worst show on TV. It takes a little longer to appreciate the complexity of the underlying ideas the show brings. The creators are smart, the kids are fantastic (gotta love Trevor and Beat Kids), and the subjects are relevant. I think they must have been shocked when they were green lit for a second season. They played this ...

OK! You've got me!
Well this is everything a Baby Boomer gran or auntie needs to see to guarantee a purchase! It's a combination British Invasion music "tribute" with tons of Beatle references and precious, funny animals! There's no violence and no scary guys to make it anything but perfect for its intended audience -- Babies and Boomers who love them! I'm sold. How about you?

Problem solving for 3-4 four year olds
All the DVDs are great for introducing new concepts when trying to solve a problem. My 4 year old niece has been in love with the wonder pets since the first time she saw the show. Each show begins with an animal in trouble. The wonder pets race to the rescue overcoming obstacles on the way. What the shows on the DVD are trying to teach: Save the Unicorn: A baby unicorn gets his horn ...

From New York to Vermont, the Wonder Pets Get the Job Done
The Wonder Pets fly onto the scene once again with "Save the Dinosaur!," featuring four fun episodes of the show. In this DVD, the wonder pets visit everywhere from the Statue of Liberty to the magical land of a dragon. The DVD's banner episode is "Save the Dinosaur! / Save the Pigeon!" This is a fairly interesting one in which they first travel to prehistoric times to save a dinosaur. They ...

An instant favorite in our house!
I received a screener of this DVD and watched it with my 4 year old daughter. It was an instant hit! She loved all the characters and immediately related to one child that looked just like her. She really loved learning about different cultures and recognizing some places and landmarks that she has seen in books and in our family travel photos. She literally wanted to pause it when I tried to ...

Wonderful "Wonder Boys"
"Wonder Boys" isn't quite a masterwork like Curtis Hanson's previous film, "L.A. Confidential," but it's excellent in its own way. The humor in the film is subtle, but there are several guffaws to be had. The film follows a college English professor played by Michael Douglas during the weekend of Wordfest, a literary celebration that brings out a best-selling author (Rip Torn) whose prolific ...
