Erika Christensen, Mike Vogel

MTV, 2004

Unsure at first
At first I just wanted to see this movie because Mike Vogel is in it. And he is sexy. But I really enjoyed the movie overall-some scenes are cheesy. But what can you do? MTV made the film so it's a pretty decent watch.

MGM (Video & DVD), 2007

This is the one to own
I first saw this movie back in the 70's and fell in love with the movie - way before I read the book. After reading the book, I realized they left so much out, so I've watched the other 3 movies I know of to see if they better matched the book (Olivier, Fiennes and that BBC Theatre version). After just an hour of the latter (it was poorly done and badly cast), I realized that there could be ...

Wuthering Heights 1939 Classic Black and White with Original Theatrical Trailer (Import, All-Region)3 reviews
Merle Oberon, Laurence Olivier

wonderful, wonderful, wonderful
This is one of the best films I've ever seen - captures the heart of the story better than any other version and shows the reason Heathcliff is what he is which is often lost in adaptations of this story. I cried and cried at the end - It is truly a masterpiece of acting . . . and probably the only time Olivier got billing beneath his co-star.

Brilliant!
Has anyone who has reviewed this film observed the moment in the film when Heathcliff, as an adult, gazes down at the entrance to the cave where he and Cathy played together as children, and sees Cathy as a child? At the same moment, Cathy turns up to see his adult figure silouetted against the Sun. For one almost imperceptable moment, they see each other across time. The addition of this ...

Wuthering Heights [So. KOREAN Import / NTSC - ALL REGION Play]18 reviews

STILL THE BEST VERSION
At last count, I believe there are about 11 versions of this classic story on film. None can compare to the original 1939 version. Who can forget Alfred Newman's Oscar nominated score.

Wuthering Heights (1992)144 reviews
Juliette Binoche, Ralph Fiennes

Paramount, 2003

Fiennes and Binoche, simply outstanding
The performance of Binoche and Finness in Wuthering Heights was amazingly powerful. People often criticize the movie, but, I believe, the director was extraordinarily faithful to the original story. All criticism was directed at how sadistic Heathcliff(Ralph Fiennes) was towards everybody. It is the director's right to add or omit whatever he finds necessary to make a movie version of the book. ...

Jane Eyre (1944) [Import]9 reviews

Classicline

Best Film Version of Jane Eyre
I've been having a "Jane Eyre-athon." There are many good versions of this gothic story of the fight between worldliness and virtue. Many have one really outstanding element, but this version, with Orson Welles and Joan Fontaine remains overall the best. Like most, it eliminates much of the second half of the book, which is the really important part for Bronte, who is one of the finest ...

Wuthering Heights (1985)1 review
Fabienne Babe, Lucas Belvaux

Image Entertainment, 2002

Not worth exploring
For many years I have struggled against the suspicion that Emmanuelle Beart (sans habillement) is the reason 'La Belle Noiseuse' remains one of my favourite films; there was, after all, the lingering possibility that Jacques Rivette was in fact a genius. With this in mind I recently purchased two of his films on DVD, this and 'Gang of Four' - I'm afraid the money would have been better spent on ...

SOUTH KOREA

UnCertified/Bootleg DVD - $59.99! Unbelievable!
Check out the Internet Movie Data Base under Certified Korean Titles. This title is NOT listed in the 1939 version. It's an UnAuthorized/UnCertified Release. AKA: Bootleg/Pirated copy from Korea. And Seller is charging almost $60.00 for it. Worst part of all, Amazon allows this stuff to go on. It makes one wonder just how reputable Amazon is. Paradine
