a great idea but...
I thought that the content would be better. Can't drill down far enough to see streets - just very major roads. This product is not going to be enough map for most -- you will need a real atlas, so what is the point? Save your money and buy the dictionary/thesaurus card.

Passable software
Basically take Rand McNally Tripmaker and update the interface. I don't even think they updated the road database (c) says 2000 but I must admit the interface is easier to use so if you are looking for a simple city to city travel guide (place to place will only work if the place you are looking for is in one of the 83 full city guides they have in the program) that is easy to use then this is ...

Don't leave home without it.
I have used tripmaker to plan a number of trips since version 1. I am up to Tripmaker Deluxe by Topics which may be prior to this version but they have not changed much recently. I find it very useful in plotting daily mileage for different route options. My wife does not wish to travel more than 6 hours a day. Tripmaker keeps me out of trouble. For instance, I had 3 days between Yellowstone ...

Good, but not great
I read all the other reviews on this site before buying the "Speed of Light" DVD, and after viewing it (twice) I have to agree with ALL of them. Taken on a superficial level, this is absolutely a marketing tool. Joe McNally makes my mouth water with all the tricks he performs using multiple Nikon flashes. In most of the scenarios, a VERY BASIC lighting diagram is included, noting the ...

All sandwich and no filling.
This review covers the DVD only. I am concerned about the description of this product. Firstly, it is billed as an "Instructional DVD" which it is NOT! Furthermore, even the product description on this page is more about photographer Joe McNally that the item itself. After a short uninformative introduction we are taken on location with professional photographer Joe McNally in a ...

quirky
Looking around the net you will find mixed reviews about a lot of the "palm-oriented" map/travel software. Unfortunately this will be no different. The maps are fair but old. (many relatively new streets are missing)My copy is dated 2002 however I'm not sure the maps are actually that current. Using the find/search function is a pain and contrary to the hint which tells you to reduce your search ...

Not great, but still useful
The atlas isn't great for navigation, as it can't do point-to-point directions. It can get you from one city to another, however, and is also useful for calculating the distance between two cities. What makes this product worth owning is that with a simple touch on the screen, you can see what awaits you at the next exit - gas stations, restaurants, hotels, notable sites, etc... My atlas did ...

A Good Product, but Some Surprises...
This is generally a good product, but there are some surprises one need to be aware of: 1. It is not a fully functional GPS for someone who likes technical details. I expected to find out how many satellites it was tracking, etc. It only tells you if you have a signal or you don't. It frustrating if you want to know if you have several satellites in your particular area for future comparison ...

SB800 is great. The DVD is worthless
I bought "The Speed of Light" DVD to learn how to work the tremendous complexity of options shooting multiple wireless SB600/SB800 Nikon flashes. I wanted the DVD to teach me modes and actual setup. This is nothing but a sales brochure on a DVD. It's all but worthless. You can fit two hours of information on a DVD. This has about five minutes of useful material. After showing us some scenario ...
