I purchased this item along with a Polar heart rate monitor. The combination enables me to maintain my heart rate within the desired range during cardio exercises. I have also observed that this transmitter works with many of the treadmills, bicycles and eliptical machines at the gym so I can monitor my heart rate on the readout panel of the machine without checking my wrist monitor.

Keep the unit dry when not using it.
I had to buy a replacement transmitter for my Polar heart rate monitor because I must've not read the fine print that said dry off the transmitter when not using. Sweat moisture activates the transmitter that drains down the non-replaceable battery. I failed to dry the unit when I quit exercising, so the battery ran down quickly -- about 10x quicker than expected. Not too bright of me ...

I can twist!
So the transmitter that comes with the heart rate monitors is awful. It's fine if you're just running, but as soon as you twist to one side, the darn thing pops off.
