I got the book today and read it in its entirety. It was very good reading with a ton of worthwhile information. It is wriiten on a level that anyone can understand and also it walks you through safety in a non-vilent and very effective way.
It has things for kids, adults, males and females. I liked the checklists but loved the stories and Tom's incite into the world at large.
Overall I gave the book a 5 but it is really a 10!
As it states in the book "it trains your brain to keep your body safe".
The book is more than about safety. It's about life in general when one takes personal safety into account. Everything in the book falls under common sense but much of these common sense tips we do not address.
Tom Patire takes a softer approach as a concerned parent even though he has the statue of some one that is handsomely skilled. The checklists are well placed and the Tom's Tips brings a unique twist to the book. I like the indepth breakdown of the Training For Life protection but I like even more that this book trains you brain first and then makes your body aware second.
The entire philosphy that Tom shares in the book is to avoid and to out think and out smart the bad guy or bad guest.
It is a really good book for everyday people and it is very well written. It is well worth the price!
Well in the meantime I bought his book. I have read it over 3 times and each time I read it I get a sense of empowerment in regards to 'living safe!'
His Personal Protection Handbook is all about proactive safety and each page is filled with worthwhile, usable information. The book has NO fluff. It is pure information and excellent stories that keep you interested in the book the entire time you are reading it.
Safety books, as many say, are boring. Not this one! It is down to earth, 100 percent of well thought-out checklists, do's and don'ts, Tom's Tips, and subject matter that all ages can get something from. My daughter, who is 11, read the book and loved it. We know talk about safety at the dinner table and she constantly recites things from Tom Patire's book. And that is a very good thing!
So apples to apples this book is a good thing and it can only help. With the way the world is going 'help in the avenue of safety' is a refreshing but needed necessity! Buying it is the first step but following what is in it can make all the difference in the world.
I must say the book is very good in fact it is excellent. As told by others in their reviews it covers everything in regards to common sense safety but puts it a well thought-out, methodical way.It was written for me and you!
The book has sections for women, men , kids and seniors. It has great safety checklists and do's and don't for all to follow. It also educates you on what NOT to say to a bad guy and how to handle things in a proactive non-violent manner but he does address what to do when it goes physically bad.
After reading the book I attended Tom Patire's talk and he was fabulious. The book is great as I said before but his presentation takes it to the next level because he demonstrates how things go bad. I was most impressed with his Know and Go Child Safety Program and his unique way that he trains the child and parent together to develop ways to outsmart the bad guy.
Safety has taken a new look in today's society and this book is the best I read out there and Tom is the new look we need to listen too.
When you read it, and you should, read it and release that Tom Patire is getting of us to think. He preaches avoidance at all costs and gives you very unique tips to "train your brain!" After all like his book says its "brain over brawn!"
We in society are always preached the theory of beating up bad guys. But as Tom Patire says "bad guys are bad because they aren't afraid of doing bad things!"
As we get on in years we need to realize that victimization can play a part in our life and the more we know in avoidance the better. All I can say is that this book was written to inspire the mind and reason with the body to avoid situations. Yes the book is for everyone and has many checklists and do's and don'ts but the best part of the book is the short stories that lead you to the why's and why not' of being a victim.
I love the book but in fairness I love watching Tom Patire's explosive, energized present on TV. He is Mr. Safety!
