Not much new, but well presented
Once you get past the opening section (a fairly transparent morality tale), the sections on speaking are good. The formula he presents is too formalized, but the principles of connecting with the audience and bringing the message home to them are timeless and this is a good addition to the literature for preachers to remind them of these things.
Another Foundational book from Andy Stanley
I first became an Andy Stanley must fan by reading "7 Practices for Effective Ministry." That book helped shape my thoughts on ministry so much that I went back and read one of his earlier books, "The Next Generation Leader." Both were very fundamental in my approach to ministry. So, I enthusiastically ordered his next book on preaching. Following a similar approach as "7 Practices" it is even somewhat a sequel, as in both, the first half of the book deals with a fictional story and the second part reveals the principals outlined in the story. "
Communicating
for a
Change
" uses this format by continuing the relationship with the minister and the baseball owner. Andy writes in a very straightforward manner, much like his teaching. While not as revolutionary as "7 Practices" "Communicating for a Change" will be very much worth your time!

Typical Stanley
you know when you pick up Stanley, you're getting gold... this was no different. Very applicable to the situation I find myself in. At times, I find that it is over simplfying a complex deal, but that tension this created was very healthy for me.

Wake Up Call
As I read this book, I was given a wake up call to how I am
communicating
to my audience. Stanley challenges your current status as a communicator and offers some practical tools to help you become a better communicator. Communicating for a
Change
will be a book I come back to again and again. I would reccommend this book to any communicator. It's very impactful. Great job and thank you Andy Stanley.
