Undead and Unpopular
I was very disappointed with this
book
. It was too short for a hard cover book. MaryJanice needs to either write longer books or publish these 2 pagers in soft cover.
Oh, the drama of turning 31.....
I LOVED this installment of the
Undead
series. I have become a great fan of MaryJanice Davidson. Her
book
s are fall down funny and very sexy.
While
Queen
Betsy
is turning 31 and working on the wedding, her friends around her are dealing with much more serious matters. As usual serious things aren't really Betsy's style so she is not too sure what to do about them. Some things she HAS to face for instance, what is wrong with Jessica? Betsy has to deal with the European vampires who come to visit, (great who invited them to the party?), along with her decision that drinking blood is just too icky and she just isn't going to do it anymore. Yeah...good luck with that one. Then one of their former enemies now love struck puppy accidently wrote a book about Betsy and it may be published! Sinclair, her husband to be for all eternity is certainly taking over, as usual! Did they forget she was Queen again?! This all might be a little easier if she didn't have to babysit her little brother quite so often, but he really likes her, and sometimes it is good to have someone around that likes you, even if they are just a baby with deadly powers of diaper odor.
It was great to see the usual characters here especially some of my favorite in the supporting cast: Garrett and Antonia(werewolf not stepmother). It was good to see Liam and Sophia again and I hope Mrs. Davidson lets us know what happens with them.
I am not going to say that this was her best yet, because all of the Undead books are so good. Even if you haven't read any of the others I think you could easily pick up Undead and
Unpopular
and love it! Although, I warn you, if you do, you will want to read the rest.

The first few
book
s in this series were brilliant, with wonderful characterizations and a dry wit that made the reader laugh out loud.
Unfortunately, successive volumes have proven disappointing. From time to time, there are flashes of what made the first few books such great reads, but these glimmers are few and far between. It seems to me that Davidson is churning out several of these in a year, instead of taking the time to write one book really well, with a cohesive plot, in which something actually happens. This iteration seems more like the middle chapters of a book or a series of short stories than a complete novel.
I'm still intrigued enough with Besty,
Queen
of the Vampires, and her court to continue to read these for now, but I hope that future volumes have more substance to them. In short, borrow this from the library, but don't waste money on a hardback.

Undead and unpopular
In the same fashion of her other
Undead
series, this
book
kept me laughing. The only bad thing is the book ended too soon and I am "dying" for the next book in the series.
