A real eye opener.

This tale of a family of Jewish immigrents as told through the diary of the Feldmen's youngest daughter, Zipporah. Although fiction, Dreams in the Golden Country provides a realistic look at the life and struggles of immigrents in Turn-of-the-Century New York,trying to learn about and fit into their new home. I found the story entertaining, powerfull, fascinating, and educational. Learning about Zipporah's life both back in Russia, and in America, not to mention learning Zippy's Yiddish words and the family's Jewish customs, gave me a whole new outlook on the Jewish faith. It also gave me a look into the uncertainties and fear of immigration. For the Feldmens, the hopes and dreams that America holds, may just give them the strength to deal with the struggle. I suggest that you pick it up and give it a try. I loved it, and I hope you will too.

Awesome!

Zipporah Feldman is a Jewish immigrant who, at first, has a hard time adjusting to America. She never gives up and finds out there are good things in America (theater) and not so good things. (factories, like where Mamie worked.)

I really loved this book. Part of it is complicated.

This book was really great. I can't beilive that Zipporah's mom had a baby! Those Feldman children sure had an age diffrence! It was a really great book and I learned a lot about American History in the early 1900's.I command the author for writing a great book!
