Artemis takes a major journey
In this modern kids' fantasy
Artemis
, Butler and Holly join with No1 of a
lost
race of fairies called demons to save that race. In this one Artemis faces the ultimate decision. Sniff.
This is
book
5 in the series that starts with Artemis
Fowl
, for which I wrote a longer review. I recommend starting the series there.
Some parents might be concerned about their kids reading a novel about demons. The best I can tell, in this story, demons are the people of the lost race of fairies with the oft-pictured look associated with the word and with some nasty habits, but are not related to fallen angels, unclean spirits, ghosts, idol spirits, "mighty men which were of old", or anything against God. Even so, some parents might want to read this and discuss it with their children reading the series.

the best one
i think its the best
artemis
fowl
book
! its very supensfull. boys and girls of all ages will love it!
Fabulous!
Eoin Colfer is a genius! I love his writing--so humorous, so touching and so surprising.
Artemis
is one of the most unexpected sorts of heroes I've ever read. Of course, this is the fifth
book
and you wouldn't want to start here, but by this point, the boy has changed dramatically. In the first book, I didn't particularly like him, though I admired his intelligence and drive. But after all he's been through, he has become a truly admirable human being.
The other brilliant twist in this series, the Fairy World, is given a new wrinkle in this book. Demons appear, ready to wreak havoc, and Artemis is fighting to stave off an apocalypse.
I loved the raised stakes and the empathic humanity Artemis displays throughout the adventure. His now true friendship with elf Holly Short is touching, never more so than during the exciting climax.
Also, I simply adore an author whose main character changes dramatically because of choices or events in a novel. And, after this novel, Artemis will never be the same again!
Bravo, Eoin!!!

Okay - buy it for your kids and read it yoursef or fun.
This is really well written. It's also the last in the series (I could be wrong). I mentioned in the Alex Rider series that I bought them for my kids (age 14 and 15). BUT - The
Artemis
Fowl
series is kinda like the sci-fi I read as a kid. It also has great characters and is just plain fun.
As Fantastic As the Others
Artemis
Fowl
book
s had got me so intrigued that I practically always finished them in 1 sitting. If you read the first book, you may not enjoy it as much as the others, like me, but as I moved on, I became a FAN. Artemis Fowl and the
Lost
Colony
, the most recent book, is just as adventurous as the others, but now includes a new touch to it: demons. This book was very good and I saw a dramatic decrease in Artemis's selfish attitude. For once he worked for something that wasn't for him. All Artemis Fowl books are my favorites and if you asked me what my favorite series is, it would be Artemis Fowl without a doubt.
Read it to believe it! Eoin Colfer has written this with a style that is only his own.
