It's OK, for Retiree!

Braun 1775 Free Control Rechargeable, Washable Men's ShaverThe Braun 1775 does a decent job on a harsh beard....However, no matter how hard I try, I simply cannot get a close shave. Certain facial hair (curly for example) isn't picked up by the razor. Having said that, I am generally pleased with the razor because being retired I don't need that close shave......when I do, I simply use my trusty razor and mug shaving cream.

I've had all the major brands with the exception of Braun. This is my first and I wish I had purchased one long ago. It is well worth the price.

The Real Thing

This is the answer for all the people fed up with Excel's prices and disposables' inadequacy. The Braun - bought on the strength of a review here - is unbelievably comfortable and close, just like a double- or triple-blade. It cleans up under the hot water faucet, takes minimum maintenance, and recharges easily. Though it quits abruptly when its charge runs out (about every ten days or so for me), you can plug it in and finish your shave while it recharges. I've tried the other electrics and never found what the Braun does. Try it, buy it, you''ll love it!

Good shaver for the price

Bought this razor to replace older Norelco. Based my buy decision on Consumer Reports recommendation (a "best buy"). Have always had rotary type. The Braun 1775 works fine and seems a good product at a fair price. It is noisier that my old Norelco (wife says it sounds like a "buzz saw") but I do not find it objectionable. Compared to the now dead Norelco the Braun does not cut as fast. I would have bought another Norelco but the CR recommended model was about 3x the cost of the Braun. I'm satisfied with the Braun 1775.
