I ordered the Kindle from Amazon with overnight delivery as I wanted to take it on a trip. I received it, charged it & had 3 books downloaded in a very short amount of time ready to travel. It is lightweight, easy to carry, has great battery power & easy to use. I keep it in the cover which actually helps with the page turning function.
I needed help with managing content as I had downloaded samples & then later wanted to delete them, the website message board was very helpful & there are lots of Kindle fans willing to discuss any issues.
I Love it & would recommend this for a Christmas gift for your avid reader friend, spouse, etc. My coworker ordered one for a trip to China & LOVED it as well.
Yes, there is a downside- it's pricey & the books are pricey as well. I still like it.
I gave this Kindle to my wife who is an avid book reader. She however is not comfortable with computers. She found this item to be extremely easy to use and is now downloading books and enjoying this device. The only thing that I wish it had was page numbering. I understand that this is not possible because of the different size fonts. Every font changes the number of pages, however their is a way to see approximately where you are in a particular book. I strongly recommend this product.

I find that this kindle dose it all. I have poor eye sight and the kindle is so clear and easy to use. The only concern that I have is that every now and then when I turn pages it will turn 2 pages. Might just be a sensitive tab. Over all I love this new book as I don't have to wait on the mail for what I want.
I bought the Kindle for my 13 year old daughter, an avid reader and technophile but too cool to admit it. Initially she thought I was the strangest mother to buy her an "electronic book." However, after reading one book she asked quickly "Mom, can I order another book?" She has now read many books with the Kindle and even shown her English teacher as well as classmates. What is interesting is that because it is electronic other children find it interesting too. Another advantage was that on vacation my daughter was able to finish one book and start another without going to a library or book store. She did it all from her bed. She downloaded it wirelessly.
Soon after my daughter started using the Kindle my husband started curiously asking about it. He learned that newspapers can be delivered to it each morning. However, the most advantageous aspect to the kindle for him is that the FONT can be enlarged. My husband needs a large FONT size.
This device is cool enough for young people but practical enough for older people. It is for ALL AGES!
