Great Price, everything you need, no need to buy a sb800
Great
flash
, everything you need for amature and most professional photography. The only difference is the strobe effect you get on the SB-800. save yourself a hundred dollars and get this flash it does everything you need.
If you own a Nikon SLR, you should own the SB600
If you are happy with your camera's built in-
flash
, you will be amazed at the quality improvement of your flash photos with the SB600.
If you are unhappy with your camera's built-in flash, the SB600 will meet or exceed your expectations.
Unless you are doing sync multi-flash studio work, you don't need to spend the extra money for the SB800; the SB600 is all you need.
If a small profile is critical, perhaps the SB400 will satisfy your needs, but given the size of the D200 and D300 bodies, this flash is well balanced with plenty of power and features.

Wireless is very convenient.
Works great. The wireless feature is very helpful. You can use it off the camera with models D80 and above.

It's awesome
This gets way better battery life than my sb-400, along with more output, and AF-assist that doesn't look like a
flash
light (I have to turn the built-in AF-assist off on my D80 because everyone complains about the brightness) I also love the remote trigger feature, I can trigger this flash wirelessly using the built-in flash on my camera. That way I can put it right where I need it.
Nikon SB-600
This product was exactly as expected,
Nikon
quality through and through. The box it came in was a scuffed, but the product appeared new and flawless.
I bought this for the iTTL features, and while the instructions are a little cryptic, I managed to figure out the setup. (I am shooting on a D80) Ken Rockwell provides instructions that in combination with the Nikon manual allow for setup of the wireless feature with about 10 minutes of fumbling around with the menus:
To access the wireless feature you have to hold the zoom button and the down key for 2 seconds, then select the wireless symbol - see the Nikon Manual pgs. 53 and 54 for this part. THEN on page 63 it shows you what the screen should look like once you have set it up. On your camera body (D70,D80), you have to first access the extended controls menu, then in commander mode under the pencil, select TTL. Be sure that the groupings match.
All said and done, this is a great
flash
, but as I have only used my camera flash and the
SB-600
, take my review with a grain of salt. If you really want to know how one will perform, borrow one from a friend for a week or two.
