LogiTech Cordless Desktop Set
Product was received promptly and in mint condition.
I especially love the keyboard shortcut feature of just pressing
a button to launch Mail or Browser. Volume control button is also
a favorite. I'm still exploring other features.
excellent!!!
well made good quality product from a trusted name such as
logitech
. keyboard is ergonomically designed and well constructed along with the mouse. software and drivers work wonderfully with the
mac
interface. only complaint is that the keyboard does not have any sort of caps lock light.
Decent keyboard - but there's better available for Mac
This is a pretty nice keyboard/mouse combo for the
Mac
intosh, make no mistake. However, it suffers from some slight problems that make it inferior to another product - one also offered by
Logitech
!
First, the good - the keyboard looks nice. The white matches most Apple hardware well, and looks classy. It's slim and takes little space, so it won't hog your
desktop
like some other keyboards do. The mouse is a white-and-silver combo that matches the keyboard and also looks very sharp.
The keyboard itself is responsive, although the keys feel a little "sluggish" and squishy at times. It allows for fast typing, and some of the hotkeys on it are convenient and useful - I found myself using the volume and mute keys frequently, though some of the others didn't get used too often.
I have no good points about the mouse, as I did not use it at all - it's ergonomically designed for right-handed people, and since I'm left-handed, it is painful and uncomfortable to use. In my opinion, an ambidextrous mouse would have been a better inclusion in this set (especially given my suggestion below on a better alternative).
As far as Macintosh-specific keyboards go, this is a nice alternative to the default Apple keyboards, especially if you dislike those keyboards the way I do.
Now for the bad - as I just mentioned, the mouse is right-hand ergonomic. If you use your mice left-handed, this renders it near-useless. I would imagine that right-handed people would be able to use it without issue, and it seems similar to the Logitech MX6xx series, so I would surmise it's a nice, responsive, serviceable mouse.
The worst complaint (and the reason I purchased a new keyboard a month later) is that this keyboard seems to unsynchronize with the transmitter frequently. About once every day or two, the keyboard would begin to go berserk - repeat keystrokes hundreds of times, miss keystrokes, or not even register anything. I had to flip it over and press the connect button to re-synch keyboard and transmitter, and then all was fine for another day. Very annoying, especially when I play online games and write; there's nothing better than dying because the keyboard wonks out, or deleting 19 pages because it repeated your Page Down and decided to hit "Delete" instead of "Insert".
Because of the de-synchronizing issue, I replaced this keyboard fairly quickly. I was hesitant about buying non-Macintosh-specific keyboards, since I was worried whether they would have a key to emulate the Command key, but I found a few options that claimed to be both Windows and Macintosh compatible, and to my delight, one of them is compatible and much nicer than this keyboard set.
For those interested in this product, if you don't mind spending $20 more, please consider the Logitech Wave Keyboard set - the keyboard is more rugged and sturdy, more responsive (no connection losses yet!), and the mouse is both ambidextrous and responds very well despite being wireless. Additionally, it's still by Logitech, so you can depend on their generally-good quality.
The
Cordless
Desktop Wave Set is available from Amazon here:

If you can't spare the extra $20, or simply don't mind a little frustration typing and having to re-connect, this keyboard/mouse combo should probably serve quite well!

The best keyboard and mouse available for Macs
This keyboard is incredible! It's Very sleek, and stylish, and my wife loves it for our new
Mac
Mini! Wireless and with more functions and options than even Apple's own new aluminum keyboards and Mighty Mouse, this will impress friends and family much more than what Apple offers currently. The ONLY reason I'm giving this 4 stars instead of 5 is because at the time of writing, the packaged software that allows for function customization and such gives an error message that the customization program won't work on an Intel based Mac.
Update! Downloading patch from
Logitech
fixes the Intel problem! Perfect Five Stars!!

Everything I was hoping for.....
This is an excellent product. It was very easy to "install" - really nothing more complicated than inserting batteries (included) and pressing a connect button on the mouse and keyboard. They are both very comfortable and intuitive. I had been using
Mac
's
cordless
keyboard and mouse but find that these are much nicer - especially since I use a PC at work and it makes transitioning at home to my Mac feel more seemless.
