So I'm standing there CRYING in Borders...
...gazing into the soulful eyes of these beautiful homeless creatures. I rarely cry, by the way, and this is in *public* no less. The book really is that moving.
I love this book for so many reasons. First, a portion of the sale goes to animal rescue operations. Second, books like this raise awareness around the importance of altering our pets and doing what we can to save an innocent life. Third, as a photographer who is just starting to take pet portraits, it's jaw-dropping how gorgeous these images are. (Maybe this should've been first -- they really are hauntingly beautiful.) So buy this book. Then buy one for everyone on your birthday and holiday gift list.

Can't break the five star review!
A simply wonderful book with exceptional black and white photos of the most gorgeous
dogs
! All three of our dogs have come from a
shelter
..they are 16, 14 and 4 years old respectively. We wouldn't consider a dog from any other place. I had tears streaming down my face just looking at the photos..looking into their pleading, soulful eyes. Most have happy endings, yes, but it's such a shame for the few that didn't. People need to be responsible pet owners and, unfortunately, there will always be those who aren't and we will always have some sad endings.
Please, spay and neuter your pets and be responsible pet owners. WE are their voice.

Love it
Just received this book, and the photographs are just wonderful. It's so sad to look into the eyes of these
dogs
- you can almost tell which ones were adopted and which were not. Beautifully done.

Haunting yet Beautiful...
I love this book! The pictures are so beautiful... and the
dogs
eyes...well, they speak to you. I love that she tells you happens to the dogs in the end. Good or Bad...it is the truth of what happens at a
shelter
. Traer Scott has given these dogs a beautiful & touching memorial. One of my absolute favorites!
Traer Scott has a gift..
..of finding the soul of her subjects, and showing us all what loving, intelligent, sensitive creatures these abandoned companions truly are!
As the proud "parent" of five rescued canines (and three rescued felines), I can only express my regret that our "forever home" cannot accommodate more: I'd take in each and every one of these lost souls that she captures so hauntingly.
Complaint has been lodged that Ms. Scott erred by not including each animal's bio with their photograph, but I take exception to that: The impact is magnified, when the photograph alone is displayed.
My only dissatisfaction might be that the book is too short, and I can only implore the author to continue her exceptional work with additional issues: If only more people could truly see these loving creatures through the "eye" of her camera, perhaps our
shelter
s would not be so full, and "euthanization" could become anachronistic...
