good value for the price
agreed, poor build quality. but why do u need to see the quality when it can shoot decent pictures? not 50 mm f1.4 grade, but hey....its damn cheap. u can use it for a few months and then discard when u upgrade. good for ppl on a tight budget/learners (like me :-(). anywayz, its so fast...never missed an expression on my kid's face...and works very well indoors/poor lighting. but i think i will never buy a thing from adorama again, took a month to get this
lens
, customer service sucks..they told me they shipped it so now its not their responsibility...had to wait in line for an hour at my local post office to get this lens. emailed them twice after that..no response...not even an apology!! adorama lost 1 customer for life.

Excellent for the price
I bought this because every single
camera
site I've been to said to buy it. And for $80 (which was what I'd paid for it), how can I lose. Now, I've had it for a few months, and what can I say except that it's excellent. Razor-shape images, fast-fast f.18 aperture, and on my 1.6x sensor, roughly 80mm shots--which are perfect for portraits. I don't understand why people say it's built crappily, but again, it's $80, and unless you're a photojournalist who abuses her equipment, why worry about its build quality?
A warning, however:
50mm
on a cropped-sensor camera, again, will translate into a 80mm focal length, which might be too narrow for most close-up shots outside of portraits. If you want to take any sort of street shot, I'd suggest getting a fast zoom or something like the Tamron 17-50mm.

Canon 50mm Lens f/1.8
really good
lens
. it works really good especially if you want to blur out the background. thats the reason why i got it. Really cheap too but the only thing is its always up close so its a macro kind of lens.

Love this lens
I absolutely love this
lens
. For $90 you can't go wrong and the pictures are just what I wanted. Nice and clear with the required depth of field and nice blurring in the background.
