A must-have for external speaker systems

When I play my ipod or nano through my separate computer speaker system, I always use the pocketdock. Not only does it boost the volume by, what seems to me, about 30%, but it also cleans up the sound.
Conduct the experiment of listening to your speakers through the ipod headphone line out jack, then listen to them by running the sound through the pocketdock attached to the bottom of your ipod. The difference is chalk and cheese. This is achieved by by-passing the headphone jack amplifier.
A great product for little money.

Great little item

I hook up my iPod to my car stereo via the AUX input. I was connecting it via the headphone jack, and the sound quality was less than stellar.

Well I found out that's because the headphone jack is not optimal for connecting to other equipment. Connecting with the pure line out (dock connector, on the bottom of the iPod) is the way to go. This tiny little piece lets you do just that, AND use any standard USB cable to connect to your computer. AWESOME! :)

Sounds great but attachment is not secure

This is a good but not great little connector for getting the best sound from your iPod. I used it for several weeks in my car. Unfortunately, the manufacturer cheaped-out with the dock connection and, as such, it tends to wiggle out with the least provocation. I've since switched to EZLink cable with dock connector/line-out/firewire connector that goes into my Belkin auto charger...the sound is just as good and the connection is much more secure.

Works perfectly

It's a simple device that does exactly what it says it does. Sound quality is noticeably improved over the headphone jack on my 3G iPod; the headphone jack's not bad but the line out is cleaner and bypasses the on-board EQ. It's nothing fancy, it just works perfectly.

The lack of a positive lock on the dock connector can be a good thing. The Nano needs to have its headphones unplugged before a locking dock connector can be removed. The PocketDock solves this problem when charging it.

Professional tool for the iPod

The PocketDock is a professional tool for improving the listening experience with the iPod. The line out feature bypasses the headphone amplification circuitry and permits the user to output directly to an audio system with it's own amplifier. It works very well with M-Audio's monitor speakers and Headroom's portable heaadphone amplifier. The firewire connection permits faster synchronization with your Mac or PC. Engineering is first rate with good connectors throughout. I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants a better listening experience with the iPod using an external audio system.
