you get what you payed for

22" TN screen is good enough for daily use, like surfing web or watching a video.
Ergonomics design is the edge of this product, which affects my purchase most.

Decent widescreen monitor but not ideal

I'm very picky about my computer displays, having owned many CRT and LCD monitors which I spend way too many hours in front of. Unfortunately, LCD monitor reviews seem to invariably consist of either people who just got their first LCD, or those explaining basic LCD technology. What I usually want to know is if it's a good LCD compared to OTHER comparable models. So I'll keep this short and focused solely on that topic.

I found the 225BW crisp, clear, and functional, with a couple of dead pixels. However, there is considerable backlight bleed-through at the top and bottom of the display. This is most visible when the screen is displaying solid black; I can usually ignore it during normal use, but it would be distracting while watching a DVD.

The narrow bevel means this monitor takes a minimal amount of space. Controls are easy to reach and non-obtrusive.

The viewing angle from left-to-right is good, but top-to-bottom is another story. The display doesn't appear entirely crisp at most angles, the crispest view is in a very narrow viewing angle.

I have my 225BW sitting next to the newer Samsung 226BW 22-Inch Digital/Analog Widescreen LCD Monitor (Black). By comparison, the 226BW has a much broader top-to-bottom viewing angle, although it also looks fuzzy if you stand in front of the LCD at desk-height and look down at the display. The 226BW is much brighter and cleaner looking, without much backlight bleed-through. However, the 226BW doesn't have an adjustable neck, and surrounding bevel is much thicker, making the whole monitor larger. The 226BW's bright blue power light may also be a distraction during DVD viewing.

The 225BW works well and is relatively cheap for 22" brand-name displays, so I still give this LCD 4 stars and recommend it for its price, Samsung reliability, and adjustable neck. But the backlight bleed-through and relatively poor contrast ratio suggest the newer Samsung 226BW 22-Inch Digital/Analog Widescreen LCD Monitor (Black) as an alternative if you don't need the adjustable neck.

Very good, for the price: VERY VERY good

I replaced a 19 inch non-wide screen flat panel with this monitor. I am not going to write a bunch of technical stuff here, one: I don't understand that stuff and 2: I suspect most people reading this don't either.

I will say that set up was very good, though I suspect there are some issues with some of the software and Vista compatibility. It was not hard to figure it out.

The picture is very good, no dead pixels that I can see and the colors are very good. Text us clear and images are sharp.

All in all, a very good monitor and a good price for a monitor of this size.

Solid 22" LCD monitor

This monitor does the job. Just all around good monitor. Bright, good colors. It's worked perfectly for me. I have had it two months and have no complaints. Very recommended.

It is only OK

Got this monitor half a year ago. Originally, I thought the monitor was great. However, after using it for a while, I just feel the monitor is to dim and graphic color is not right. I originally thought it was because it is computer graphic card problem. I replay the graphic card and got the same result. I am design web sites on this monitor. One day I happened to view the sites I design on my HP Laptop computer and I spot some color messed up on the web site. However, those colors are just not noticeable on this Samsum monitor.
