GREAT DRIVE for the price!!
This
rugged
drive
with firewire works great. It is very fast.
It's a great value for the price and has been totally reliable.
I've had no problems with it--and getting to plug-n-play on mac without having to install software was very appreciated.
It doesn't run loud. It doesn't run hot. I couldn't be happier!
(If you are on pc windows os, running windows on mac, networked to windows, or filesharing with windows--DO read the manual and DO install and configure as recommended.)
nice product, easy to use.
This is a nice product and easy to use. I found the product to be well-built and just as described.

Big Value, Small Package, Great Price
I have an Apple PowerBook with an 80 GB Internal
Drive
which by the time I load all my apps, there is very little room for files. This small footprint, high capacity drive is perfect for travel. It holds a mirror copy of my main computer allowing me to take everything on the road. When I get home, everything I've updated while traveling is moved back to the main computer. Added plus is that in almost every hotel we stay there are never enough electric outlets. Since the
LaCie
draws it's power from the the laptop, this is one more problem solved. I am absolutey thrilled with this little gem, especialy the size and Amazon's great price.

Lacie Hard Drive
Works fast with
Firewire800
. It is warm, not hot to the touch when it is running. Very quiet, no vibrations. Seems
rugged
enough. Used for backing up using Time Machine 0n my MacBook Pro. No problems.
Funky Durable Worth it
Small, light, cute orange baby buggy bumpers. I use this
drive
on a Windows XP system. It is dedicated to storage for all our old slides we are scanning to store as jpgs. We can carry it from one computer to another depending on which computer is available when there is time to scan. I had a bit of a problem getting this drive recognized in the disk management utility, but finally shut down zone alarm and re-attached it to the
USB
port a couple of time, and just as the manual on the cd describes, the Windows Write Signature utility eventually popped up and the rest of the formatting for an NTSF file system went smoothly. The only disappointments were 1) the
LaCie
160
GB HD is listed as legacy
hard
ware on the manufacturer's site (dwindling support?) and 2)my system read the drive as having only 111.79 GB of storage - nearly a third less than advertised..
