Good DVD Burner

I normally do not mess with installing new hardware because I am afraid that I am going to mess something up. The only problem I had with with putting this Asus in was actually getting my old CD Burner out.

As far as this Asus DVD burner, I have no issues. I was able to get it in very easily, and my computer recognized it right away. I burned my first DVD without any problems after I finally figured out which option to use with the Nero software that came with it. The burner was quiet throughout the whole process even with the Lightscribe labeling.

The only reason I have not given it a 5 is because I have only used it twice and have had it only a week. Hopefully it will continue to perform this well for me for many years.

& play.
Lightscribe works great when you update the Lightscribe software from Lightscribe site.
This Asus drive and Nero work good together..Ultra Buffer has ensured me
99.9% playable discs.

I am glad I spent money on it

I replaced my Samsung DVD writer with this one, and I am very glad. Since the replacement, I had no bad DVDs and no write errors. It just does what it's intended to do. The nice touch is that if you like LightScribe feature (as I like), you will enjoy the burned labels right on the other side of DVD or CD. I like it also because if you use the 6-CD player in your car, the CDs with paper labels won't get stack in the player as it often happens.
It comes with a stripped-down Nero buring software, and I was not happy with it. Many features are not available unless you pay extra to this German software company. I had to install another program to cover the necessary features.
Overall, the drive is recommended.
