Solid Phone, BAD Sony for using M2
I'll keep this simple, this
phone
is great. If you have average-sized hands then you will love this. The only problem is that
Sony
used its proprietary M2 Memory Stick (micro) which is more expensive than say microSD, miniSD, etc...
My Beloved Phone
Christmas 2007 I purchased two of these
phone
s, one for myself and one for my younger brother. Brother's phone lasted two months before the buttons began to crack. Four months into his ownership the screen busted and we had to purchase something else. My phone had been great up until the last month (june) where my buttons began to crack and the phone would "stick"...i would press a button to get to the menu and the highlighted area would stay that way and nothing would happen. I wanted to like this phone, but this a.m. my screen is black! When I turn the phone on I can see a faint red line running from the top of the screen to the bottom. I guess it's over. For these two phones it was over $400 at the time. What a rip off. My fiance's phone is a SE W810i (walkman but not the slider) and it has held up for almost four years now. Good Luck!

Great phone!
Bought this
phone
last February and I love it. I have not experienced any of the problems others have mentioned. It has great reception. The few problems I have had are due to where I live, not the phone. My 15 year old niece just got one and she loves it as well. It is also holding up quite well to the demands of a 15-year-old. I would definitely recommend this phone.
All around good phone
I've had my
w580i
for a little over 2 months now and it has been working great. The keypad is easy to use, and the screen is very bright and attractive. I've gotten good battery life with this
phone
. A charge usually lasts 3 to 4 days, probably because I talk about an hour each day, I rarely text, and I set the screen brightness to 80%. I love the camera, which includes a panoramic feature. The menu is straight-forward and easy to navigate.
At first I was a little skeptical about the slider design, but I find it's easy to open and close one-handed. The only downside I can find about this phone is the darn M2 memory card slot. Why can't
Sony
just go with the cheaper, mainstream MicroSD cards?
