Easy to Follow, Great Advice!
The sisters come up with some of the best teaching strategies I have heard of to this day. I have fully integrated this into my
daily
routine, and the students love it. More and more my students have become readers (in a school that isn't known for good reading scores), and I can truly see them becoming better readers right before my eyes. With the design of this system, I have time to go and confer with students that need more one-on-one time than others. Teaching first grade is a crucial time for young readers, and this approach to reading time has given me an excellent strategy to tackle it with ease. The kids love it, I love it, and I can truly tell it is helping all of them!

The best thing to happen for teachers
I cannot speak highly enough about The
Daily
Five
. I read the book before the start of the 08-09 school year because I knew I would be needing to make some changes in order to meet the needs of all my students without any parent help in the classroom. The sisters write with such voice that you will feel as though they are in the room with you. I had so much success with the structure of Daily 5 that I recently spent a summer afternoon with 22 out of 24 of my peers to help them get started with the Daily 5 this year.
The Daily Five
I've been teaching for 20 years and this is a great reading program. I can't wait to usse it this year.

The Daily Five
This is an amazing quick read that will help implement small groups in the classroom that are effective and student driven.
Great Pedagogy!
I picked this up over a year ago based on word of mouth. I read it once and took a tepid liking to it. I talked it up with others, reread it, and warmed up enough to give it a go in my classroom. WOW! Call me a convert. I currently teach 4th grade and after using this "process" in my classroom this past year I am a believer. This way of "doing" reading is well researched, easy to understand, and can be modified easily. This is more kid based than teacher based, so if you want to sit behind your desk and grade worksheets stay away. If you want to make a drastic, amazing difference in reading ability and interest, however, grab this one!!!
