Amazing book
I have not had such a great experience reading a fantasy book since the likes of 'the hobbit'. It follows a similar structure of telling the story of a hero. But the world feels so real, with the main character being so believable that is difficult not to get inmersed in thiS world of magic
Original and Interesting
This is the first book I have read in a while that was interesting enough for me to read in the span of two
day
s. With a style and setting notably similar to a combination of Harry Potter and an R.A.Salvitore novel, this book will provide imense entertainment to just about anyone.

Very good book
"The
Name
of the
Wind
" is a very good book. The characters are well defined and leaving you wanting to know more. It has adventure, love, betrayal, and magic.

One of the best fantasy novels I've ever read....and I've read a few.
Unbelievably book. Even more incredible when you learn it's the author's debut.
I was somewhat upset to discover that I picked up an initial book of a trilogy without the rest of the trilogy around but the book is SO good I'm okay with that (kind of).
This book is simply awesome.
Truly.
In fact, the review should simply state "Awesome" and be done with it.

great book, but...
I really enjoyed this story. It's written well and it's fun. There is a well thought-out world here and most fantasy elements such as magic and dragons are handled in a mature, almost believable fasion. I've read a lot of sci-fi/fantasy over the years and I say "The
Name
of the
Wind
" is a damn good tale and I'm looking forward to the follow-up.
One gripe though, hence the missing star. The hero is just a bit too good at everything for my taste. He's a doctor, a magician, an architect, an alchemist, a musician, the valedictorian, the greatest wizard ever, the man, the legend, ugghh...Patrick Rothfuss obviously sees himself in his hero. I had it from his own lips via an online interview. It's more than a little self indulgent and it's simply irritating. It detracts from the overall body of work and anyone living in a 4-d world will know what I mean. Maybe Rothfuss is compensating...I dunno.
But for me it was the one fault in an otherwise really, really good novel. A gem I say. Not to be missed.
