Got the FW900 about a month ago, and now I'm thinking to get another one to watch DVDs on; I'm currently using the one I have for work and 24/7 system monitoring ( you could never get enough they say :) ).
The only complaints I have are that this monitor is heavy, although one should admit that it's a given for a monitor this size ( you will need to ask for a help should you decide to run down to your local store to purchase one ), and about those two annoying tiny lines on the screen which have been GDM series' trade mark ever since their creation. Other than that, ... if only Sony would drop the price a little ... he he.
So, bottomline, buy one if you have the money; or if you don't, stop wasting money on those useless processor speed/system ugrades 'till they could come up with something in accordance with Murphy's Law, save it, and get this baby!
It could be the best money you could spend on your computer system for the coming 5 years, you know ... :).
The picture quality is *perfect*, the best color I've ever seen on any monitor and a really sharp image in 1920x1200x85hz which is the resolution I use most.
Perfect for DVD and video as well, I've since thrown out my TV because the picture quality on this monitor is so much better.
If you've got the money, don't even hestitate for a moment to buy this monitor now!
The display is perfectly flat and the extra width means it is perfect for viewing double pages side-by-side. I myself work a lot on CAD/CAM drawings (and watch the occasional movie!). The monitor has some of the highest refresh rates (80Hz at 2304 x 1440)and possibly the sharpest images I have ever seen.
It also has a USB hub in the back and that means that I can plug in my printer, mouse and keyboard directly to it. No more shuffling around the back of my CPU!
All in all a great buy. The only downside is the price. But if you can afford it, dont think twice!
