Radio with an alarm

This product is just what I was looking for. Our bedroom of our house was in a shadow zone and on any given day we could get a radio station from 250 miles away or 50 miles away and with static, but not the preferred one that was 35 miles away. This radio is able to get signals from the closest radio station and after a month...no static. I had been looking for an alarm clock radio but I now know that I needed a good radio with an alarm component. I think it is easy to use, and am happy that so many people reviewed this radio/alarm.

Shipping is awful. Took over 2 weeks to get.
Estimated delivery was 7 days. It was shipped within 2 days of order..

Just Perfect! (And Kudos to Amazon Customer Service!)

I bought this radio while my mom was in the hospital to replace her old "boom box" radio/CD player (on which she never used the CD player). I wanted something semi-portable and easy for her arthritic hands to handle and adjust. I also wanted digital tuning and programmable buttons, for ease of use for her. Good reception of both FM and AM isn't an issue for us because of where we live, but she was having some trouble with drift on the old boom box. I needed an AC powered unit, because she listens ALL night and I didn't want to be awakened at 3 a.m. to change batteries!

Long story short, I did a LOT of research here on Amazon and elsewhere trying to find a set that met all my requirements and I ordered the Sonido. Sadly, we received a defective unit. I put the batteries in exactly as instructed in the book and on the radio itself and they rapidly heated the unit to the point that I thought the plastic would melt. I nearly burned my hands on the batteries getting them out of the radio. I was disappointed, but I quickly contacted Amazon to exchange it. Needless to say, Amazon (and trust me, I don't always agree with on all their policies or practices) came through as usual with a ship-free printable return label and a quick ship of a replacement. Batteries in and the replacement shows no signs of having the same problem. Kudos to Amazon on excellent customer service and to Sangean on a great product!

AWESOME!

This product is great - not difficult to operate at all, nice and compact and sturdy. I didn't know (and probably didn't read it) that the display is only lit when you hit a button ... in other words, you can't see the time in the dark if you're in the room until you actually walk over to the unit and hit the correct button on the front to enable the amber back-light to see time, station, etc. However, that's the only drawback. The sound quality is amazing - I would definately recommend to a friend and/or would purchase as a gift.

Best Portable Radio on the Market

This is about the 5th radio I've had from Sangean and everyone has been top quality. The shipping was faster then I could have imagined.
