This is a classic!

If you like Disney, you will appreciate "The Jungle Book". It was made in the 1960's, thus it is interesting to see a Disney movie from that era. It has good music and likeable characters. "The Jungle Book" would be a great addition to a Disney movie collection.

Songs save a meandering effort surprisingly light on real thrills

The Walt Disney Company's 1967 animated film "The Jungle Book" is slightly stunted by a script which de-emphasizes the importance of drama and conflict. This is an ironic fault, as it should find its very purpose in the device of dramatic conflict.

Featuring the voice talents of Phil Harris(Disney's "Robin Hood)as Baloo the Bear, as well as Sebastian Cabot and Bruce Reitherman as, respectively, Bagheera the Panther and Mowgli the Man-Cub the film is very loosely adapted from the work of Rudyard Kipling. The main fault of the movie is the lack of a sufficiently compelling storyline whilst Mowgli is in the jungle. Since we as an audience know that a happy ending in this case means getting him to the man-village, the movie is robbed of real suspense. However, Bagheera and Baloo's debates over Mowgli do add a spark to these proceedings.

The film's main attractions are its songs. Including "The Bare Necessities" and "I Wanna Be Like You," the film's soundtrack also features an intriguing East Indian motif over the opening credits.

Also featuring the voices of Sterling Holloway and George Saunders, "The Jungle Book" is entertaining but is surpassed by Disney's own "Tarzan," released thirty-two years later. Nevertheless, this is still passably fun.

Great DVD

This was formy son and he loves it. DVD was as described works like new. Shipping and transaction was great.

Disney at it's best....

Ok, I know this wasn't one of the grand scale, high dollar sound tracks like The Lion King, and Beauty and the Beast, but this is one of my all time favorite Disney movies and sound tracks. As a kindergarten teacher it is really fun with the kids. I love Sebastian Cabot and Phil Harris is at his best. You will want to dance with King Louie, and appreciate the bare necessities of life with Moglie and Baloo. It is a must have for any Disney fan and collection.
