For Balance
Do I think this
book
should get Five stars? No. Do I think it should get 1 star like the previous reviewer gave it? No. It's a solid 4. It seems to me that the previous reviewer has a bone to pick, and is most likely someone that dislikes the direction of the LKH Novels, have issues with sex in books and the possibly the author herself and want to bring down the review rating for the books. I have no issue with people who dislike the books, but I do have an issue with people who deliberately who goto every book they personally don't like and do a lambasting sermon on the evils of the author and go on an evengenical like crusade to generate a culture of hate. If you don't like the book, give it a bad rating and leave it at that. Get over it. The author doesn't wite books you like it's not the end of the world go read a book you do like, promote that author.
This book is a good stable fantasy book which does have an erotic twist. I don't think authors need to be pigeon-holed into a genre and never leave that genre. The Merry
Gentry
books have all had erotic and sexual overtones. These books are fun and do what they are created to do, and that is entertain. They are not to educate, be literature, or be highbrow literature.
This is a satisfying looking into a world other than our own.

A different side to the Unseelie Sidhe...
Technically, my review rating is something more like 4.5 stars, mainly because I can find the somewhat gratuitous sex extremely distracting. However, there is something really genuine about the relationships
Meredith
has with her guards, there seems to be alot of positive and friendly moments, not just the ardeur of the latter Anite Blake
book
s. But the best part about this book and this series thus far has to be the depiction of the two courts of the Sidhe. While I have read many books about the Faerie, the Sidhe, the fey, etc. I have never come across such an interesting and unique interpretation of the two courts as this series. The Unseelie Sidhe as the good guys? The court accepting all children, no matter their parentage? The contrast betweek the accepting nature of the Court with the torture, the artifice of the Seelie court with the cruelty, is one of the most fascinating views of the Sidhe I have ever read. I just hope the rest of the series stays as good!

Loved It
I don't write synopsis of the
book
. Sorry, just figured you can read above to find out what the plot of the book is. This is the second book of Hamilton's series. Yes, you probably should read the first although Laurell recaps things in case you didn't. There is a LOT of sex in these books. Be prepared that if you don't want to read sex or different ways/positions offends you then please don't even try it. The relationships
Meredith
has with her guards are done really well. You get to know her and the guards and Laurell creates a fabulous world to get involved in. I love the idea of the two different fairie courts and how they interact or don't interact. I have never read anything about the fairie so it has been an interesting learning experience. I highly recommend this book if you are wanting a fascinating read.
