Mio Heart Rate Watch
I received it quickly and was excited to start using it. Yet I'm still trying to get a hold of a human at the Manufacturer, to see if we can troubleshoot why it does not work. I'm extremely disappointed. I like the
watch
I just hope I can resolve this problem, it does have a 1 year warranty, whew.
Love this item
The second best investment towards my weight loss challenge. The first one being a Proform treadmill. I am now able to maximise my workouts by knowing when I reach my calorie burning zone. Easy to ope
rate
and give time and date (a plus).
great addition to the workout
Getting it used to your body seems to be key - at first I would get false readings like a
heart
rate
of 230 etc.
After wearing it for 20 minutes and a moisture barrier is able to build between your skin and the
watch
it does work well. I find that I need to use the pads of my finger not the tips, and that they also have to be a little moist. But all in all I can wear this, whereas I couldn't wear a chest monitor because the dammed thing would always be at my waist. I can ususally take my heart rate while walking. I havne't used the calorie stuff yet, but it's good to know it is there if I get around to it.
The alarm is a bit quiet - if you are a heavy sleeper, don't expect it to wake you up for that early morning workout.

works well, looks great
I've only had the
watch
for a day now, but setting up the watch (inputting time, date, weight, resting bmp, etc.) was really easy with their step-by-step instructions. The watch also worked very well on my initial test -- an evening interval run/walk. The only thing I didn't expect was how large the fact of the watch would be. Somehow I thought
Petite
applied to the watch itself, not just the band. So it's a bit large to use as a ordinary watch for time-telling. But overall, I'm very satisfied with the watch and I look forward to using it regularly.
Mio HRM-Good Purchase
I discovered the Mio
Shape
Select
HRM after looking at the Polar HRM's endorsed by my gym. The Polar looked cool, until I started really reading product specs and learned about the transmitter strap you have to wear on your chest. I had just about decided not to bother with an HRM if I was going to have to deal with a strap. Then I found the MIO products on Amazon.
The
watch
(the Shape Select
Petite
) is kind of bulky, but it does accu
rate
ly read my
heart
rate. The advanced calorie functions are nice too, and not too difficult to use after you learn what buttons to push. However, I think that I will probably just be using this for workouts only since this watch is a little too sporty looking to go with business clothes. I do think I could have gotten away with one of the less-expensive models for the purpose of workout info only. Nonetheless, I do like this watch and am glad I bought this instead of spending even more money on a watch that requires the transmitter strap, etc. I would recommend this or perhaps the Mio Sport Select which is slightly cheaper and has a more bare-bones feature set to people who are new to working out and want to monitor their heart rate and calorie expenditures more closely.
