Very good headphones, unbeatable for the price

Recently bought these after returning Sony NC60's due to vibration in one ear. So far, am very pleased with the purchase. I've tried both the Bose Q2 and Q3 models and find the AT to have competitve sound quality, noise cancellation, and a superior structrual rigidity. The only aspect where the Bose clearly wins is comfort. This is not to say that the AT's are uncomfortable, but they do apply more pressure to the ear than the Bose's do. However, for $200 less, I can certainly live with having to take them off slightly more often. I would definitely recommend these.

Decent Noise Cancellation--Uncomfortable On The Head

The noise cancellation of this product works fairly well. It helped me get through a several-week pile driving operation near my office. My only complaint in the audio department is when switching on noise cancellation, the audio output gets nearly twice as loud, even in a perfectly quiet environment.

The phones are fairly heavy and clampy on my head compared to other more expensive models I've tried.

Bose Has Serious Competition!

I was curious about the Audio-Technica ATH-ANC7 QuietPoint headphones after purchasing the acclaimed Bose QuietComfort 2 Acoustic Noise Canceling headphones. After reading rave reviews, I decided to purchase these. Let's just say I ended up returning the Bose headphones.

The QuietPoint headphones provide better passive noise isolation than with the QuietComfort 2. I think this also helped make music sound clearer. It certainly felt tighter having the QuietPoint headphones on than the QC 2 from Bose.

One advantage the QuietPoint has over its competitor is that it plays music even without active noise cancellation on. I found that the sound was muddier without noise cancelation. But it's helpful to have that feature, as it makes the battery last longer.

This ability also serves as a workaround for its biggest flaw: no magnetic shielding. The microphones pick up static noise from mobile phones when noise cancellation is turned on. I never had this problem with the QuietComfort 2. Of course, turning it off will disable this annoyance. I hope that Audio-Technica fixes this problem in a future release, as well as incorporate some features for mobile phones (like an in-line microphone) as with the Bose QuietComfort 2 and 3.

Overall, the sound is crisper and clearer than the QC 2 I had. It also blocked out more noise than the QC 2 in my opinion. A great headphone for your money!

Amazingly good at amazingly good price

This will be a short but sweet review.

I have owned the Bose QC's, Great noise cancelling but horrible build quality, expect to throw them away 6 months after warranty expires.

I currently own a set of the Senheiser PCX 450's. Among the best available but somewhat heavy, bulky, and the noise cancelling not quite as good as the Bose.

I have owned many other brands, all junk. It is not as easy as it might seem to do good noise cancellation.

My spouse does not travel all that much so I figured I would pick her up a less expensive set. Based on the reviews I got a set of the Audio-Technicas. I was floored to discover that they are now what I consider the best NC Headset out there.

Comfort is right up there with Bose. Noise cancellation is fantastic. These are the quietest of the three. Price can not be beat.

Unless your ego needs to show off a brand name to the stranger in row 7A, there is no need to look elsewhere. These are the ones to buy.
