Logitech G9 Laser Mouse

I had mx 518 before and this is way better!!!!!its a must have if your're a gamer.....

Good but small.

I am switching from a Logitech Trackman Wheel to this.
Pros: It is very precise which is great for gaming and also 2D & 3D Graphics. 5 Programmable presets that automatically switch for you depending on the software you are using is great.

Cons: It is a bit small and it probably could be better ergonomically designed with a little more angle to it. It definitely isn't as comfortable to use as my previous Logitech Mice and Trackballs.

Amazing Gaming Mouse

This mouse was worth every dollar! I love it and am very glad I bought it!

Good but not perfect

The mouse itself works great. The pointer movement is more precise than any laser mouse I've used..very accurate. Still, I can't seem to get over a few minor problems.

1. For one, the 'precision click wheel' that they advertise as a key selling point was a big let down. I was expecting it to be 'precise' but the wheel barely clicks at all and feels very flimsy. In fact my old G5 has better clicking action. I feel duped. At first I thought the wheel may have been broken and exchanged it for a new one, but its still the same.

2. Then the switching to the free scroll mode is a good idea but the button is on the bottom of the mouse, how lame, you can't switch it on the fly. I'll just use the scrollbars thank you.

3. Another problem is the awkward placement of the forward side button. It's so close to the the back button and at such a bad angle that you have to be careful not to press the back button. It should be angled outward so it would be easier to press. Not very good ergonomics.

4. I also read a post that the middle wheel button was easy to press but it requires just as much pressure as the g5. The wheel is flat which can help with pressing the button, but this also makes the left and right wheel button not as easy to use because the wheel is much shorter. The left/right wheel buttons feel much better on the G5 when gaming.

5. The position of dpi button on the side doesn't feel right to me. I liked it better on the g5.

6. The new weight system isn't particularly a great idea either. Changing weights require you to 'open up' the mouse grip so its just a pain.

For a mouse this expensive, you would expect better, especially when you can get the G5 for much less and work just a good.

Great Claw Mouse

I've been using this for two months now. It was a bit uncomfortable when I first got it but got used to it in hours and nothing else feels as good as the G9. This is probably the best for any claw user. It would probably be a little too small for a palm grip user. The wide grip is also made of a very smooth material, so it's really nice to just have your hand resting on it. The extra features like a button to change sensitivity, different profiles, frictionless scroll, etc. are all nice but really unnecessary. I haven't used any of the weights either. Obviously, I haven't been using the mouse to its fullest potential, and would not merit a $70+ price tag to me, but I paid less than 20 for it is a great value for what I'm using it for. It's nice to know I have those extra features if I ever need it. Probably only the most hardcore gamers would find the $70+ value in it. The setpoint software is also very easy to use and allows a lot of customization. I haven't had any trouble with it at all.

The only real complaint I have is the middle click (scroll button) is harder to press than other mice. It requires a good amount of force to push down, but after some usage it has either gotten looser or I have gotten used to pressing the middle harder. Also, the wire is made of a fabric so it's like rope rather than what a typical wire is made out of. Not really a problem, I just found that weird.

Overall, it's a great claw mouse, and I would recommend it for anyone who doesn't want to settle for less and willing to pay the price.
