starting tomorrow

I haven't smoked for 2 days without the lozenges(it's coming tomorrow in the mail). I have been coughing really bad and decided to put down my cigs. Today(2nd day smokefree) I have urges to get my smoke again but I resisted. I won't use the lozenges as recommended because that will breed another dependence on the product; it's better if I can use my will more than the crutch(Commit) to conquer my addiction. I will only use it when the urge is really strong. I'll update my result with the product

Better then the generic

I am a 40-60 a day cigarette smoker who has been smoke free for two weeks now with the help of the lozenges. One thing no on else has mentioned is the superiority of Commit to the generic. I started with the generic, the taste was different much less mint and more chalky then Commit, and it crumbles in the mouth only half the way through, so you are left with trying not to swallow dozens of tiny little peaces or spitting them out. I would never have bought the Commit though, figuring I would have had the same problem, if it wasn't for the fact that Amazon had a discount coupon offer and I am an Amazon prime member which gave free 2 day shipping.

Worked temporarily but couldn't quit the lozenges!

I used these to quit smoking successfully for a while, but then couldn't get off of the lozenges. I ended up starting smoking again because I was throwing more money at lozenges than cigarettes, with no end in sight. I constantly craved them and kept popping more and more.

I've done patches previously and they worked pretty well (I started about a year later out of my own stupidity). The thing I like about them is that it is totally controlled. Cravings might be a little tougher during stressful moments, but you don't have the temptation of taking more or having to regulate it yourself. Stick one on in the morning and that's it. No grabbing for more or looking at the clock in anticipation of the next fix.

Normally I would say pick the product that YOU control (rather than it being controlled for you), but I don't think anyone buying nicotine cessation products has the control they need anyway. Otherwise you could just quit smoking without the help.

Trust me, you probably want the ease of sticking it on in the morning and forgetting about it.

Works, but you have to be ready to quit

As my title shows, you have to be ready to quit smoking. I find that it helps me fight off the urge when I am around cigarettes, helps me stay focused without the thought of having one, and causes me not to be phased by the smell of cigarette smoke (we know how that feels.) I do not use these according to the guidelines, but rather when I feel I will be in stressful situations (such as work) or when I am surrounded by smokers (such as being at bar or around friends/coworkers who smoke). If you are ready to quit this is a great suppressent, but if you are not mentally ready, you will have a hard time even with these.

Worked for me when nothing else did

I quit in the beginning of this September and I used them for about a month. I haven't had so much of a drag of a cigarette since. I've smoked for about 8 years. A good idea is to play a video game, listen to a few days of that "Learn Spanish in 30 days" audiobook, watch a movie, or do something that takes a good hour or two because it DOES take a long time for them to dissolve. But while they are dissolving you aren't smoking, right? I didn't follow the program. I tried to go cold turkey and sat down and watched a movie with a lozenge in my mouth when I felt like that familiar feeling of "if I don't smoke something I'm going to shoot someone". It worked very well. I dropped the mints after a month. I was a pack a day (more than that on the weekends) smoker and now I can't even stand the smell of it. I'd reccommend these to anyone. I still have a bunch of packets of these left sitting on my dresser just in case I snap one day.

I've tried the patches, gum, Smoke-Away, and cold turkey. This is what finally worked for me.

HOWEVER: If you do it as the directions say, that is a lot of nicotine going through you. The mints can relax just like a cigarette can so I'd advise just using the mints when you absolutely NEED them. They say the best way to quit is cold turkey and using these as a crutch instead of "just one more smoke" will be a lot more beneficial to you. Things get very easy after the first week or two. Good luck!
