Works fine, needs a string upgrade
I have almost three acres, and about one acre of that needs some trimming. The trimming usually takes about 15 to 25 minutes, depending on how fast the
grass
is growing and how ambitious I feel. Of course, I don't keep the unit running as I walk to a new area. I have been using this
trimmer
for about two months and have not had any problem with the battery, in fact I haven't even charged the second battery yet.
I've used the trimmer to:
1) Clear small brush, about 1/8" diameter stems, some larger, some smaller. Seemed to do a pretty good job.
2) Do general trimming on the edge of the driveway, around trees/posts, and between the bricks in walkways and patios. Trimmer does fine.
3) "Mow" a strip along the street that is too sloped for the mower. Worked OK, but I often needed to go over areas a second time. I don't think this is the trimmer - I think it is the
string
. (My last trimmer was a CST 2000 and when I changed to a better string - having more of a star/square shape - instead of the round string that comes with the unit, the cutting improved significantly.) I don't know why B&D doesn't equip their units to give the best performance from the start.
I'd recommend this product, but plan on upgrading the string when it needs replacing. With a new string, I'm sure I'll be very happy with my purchase.

very good for small jobs, but have used it on some big weeds and it has been good at that, but of course the batterys will go down faster. I have noticed the more you have to charge the batteries they don't5 last as long, but being a disabled vet I can use it from my scooter and that it is light weight enough to do it with
the good and the bad
We have almost a acre of land with fence around most of it. With the price of gas as high as it is and the hassle of mixing the gas I decided to try this. It takes 8 hours to charge the battery. It takes less than 1 hour to run it down. There is an extra battery so I swap the battery before I start. Not long enough to charge the other one. The
Grass
Hog
does all the grass and weeds I need it to. The good part is I don't have to bump it on the ground. The line is self feeding. This machine is adjustable in length so my 10 year old grandson can handle it with ease. It's light so no strap to go around the shoulder. It has an edger built right into the machine, just flip it down and trim your walk or drive. If it is like the other

tools I own it will last a long time.

Another winner - only better
I reviewed the previous generation of this weed whacker, the one with the 12V lead-acid battery, and recommended it to any reader. This one's better.
For one thing, the battery seems to last longer. We have a postage-stamp urban lawn - using this as the lawnmower, we can cut nearly the whole thing on one battery. That's the least of it, though. My wife is a tall and strong woman, but with petite hands. The older model's battery release required a wide, strong grip for which Nature never equipped her. The smaller, lighter batteries and easier release make this feasible for her.
But, since the previous generation, B&D discovered not only female users, but interchangeable parts, as well. My cordless drill uses the same batteries and charger, so now I have two chargers and four batteries for this
trimmer
and for my drill.
I liked the old model. I like the new model much better. Ladies - if the older generation didn't meet the needs of your hands, you're in good company (or at least lots of company). Try the new one.
