Pretty nice, but just one thing...
It seems to be a pretty good
mouse
. I bought this because of the ergo factor and I like it. My only complaint is the angle in which this thing rises from the front to the back. I am using the attached wrist rest with it and for me I found it more comfortable if I raised the wrist rest up a little bit. I used a post-it note pad and it feels and it really does feel a lot better now. I hope this will help anyone with the same opinion.
have not received it yet, pre-review

After many years of
mouse
usage and having used all of the logitech
trackball
offerings I am now trying out the
Kensington
line up. In essence, I am searching for the one true mouse. There will be those of you who will laugh at this, but there will also be those of you that know exactly what I mean.
I spend about 10 hours a day on a computer, between work and home. Comfort and functionality are key for me.
I just received the Kensington Orbit mouse, but after a few days I am returning it. The Orbit mouse is actually quite nice, however I could not get scrolling to work. Which is a deal breaker.
I am running linux so the provided software is useless to me.Playing with xorg.conf was disappointing and could not get scrolling to work.
I have just ordered the
Expert
mouse and have an xorg.conf waiting to go when I receive it.
I currently use the Logitech Marble mouse and it works quite well, but am not 100% satisfied with it.I also like the Logitech trackman marble, but that too is not totally satisfactory. I had the Logitech Marble FX which was quite nice but one of the buttons failed on it. Granted, it saw alot of use, but even then I didn't consider it the one true mouse( it came close though).
I use a Logitech G5 mouse for gaming but do not prefer it for day to day use.
After reading the reviews here and at Newegg;I still am not sure. There seems to be a complaint about the scroll wheel being somewhat noisy and cheaply made. Well see. There are those that love it and those that are disappointed with it. I am willing to give it a go as my choices are running out.
I very much hope this is the one true mouse for me.
For those that are curious, I also went through the same dilemma with keyboards. To make a long story short, my keyboard of choice is the happy hacking lite II. A most excellent keyboard. Its not a clicky keyboard, and I do have one of those, but it works fine and the small form factor is a big plus.
cheers! and happy mousing!

I received the mouse today, pretty fast shipping on Amazon's part. The trackball was stiff at first but after a few hours it became silky smooth. The scroll wheel is not near as loud as I was led to believe and the action is smooth enough, its actually a great idea.
I use the supplied wrist pad and it is quite comfortable. The ball is large and reminds me of the old video game, missile command.
All buttons work in linux. I am using it left handed so it will take some to get used to it. Overall, I am satisfied with it. One thing that stands out is the size of it. Its large compared to all of the logitechs I have, but my hand can rest comfortably on top of the mouse.

This may very well be the one true mouse for me. I am using it left handed as I am now using my full sized unicomp clicky keyboard. Its 19.25 inches wide, making for a stretch on the right hand side. Anyways, under ubuntu8.04 beta, all of the buttons worked. I just discovered that the upper left button serves 2 purposes; clicking on a link will open it in a new tab, sweet! secondly; when clicked on a web page it will then allow the ball to act as a scroll wheel (look ma! no ring). This trackball rocks...

It works exactly the way I wanted it to!!!!
I have been totally pleased with this
trackball
. I tried one years ago but was not so happy with it. Of course, like any "change" it takes a little time to adapt to it (I use a
mouse
at work all day long). I bought this for home (A
Mac
with Pro Tools for music recording) because it was recommended to be able to make edits of music more precisely than a mouse. I must say the recommendation was right on target. I think what makes this better than the trackball I tried years ago is the size of the ball. It's much bigger and is easier to use than the small trackball I tried using years ago.
I would recommend this to anyone. My desk space is small so I don't have to move this around like a mouse.
A GREAT PURCHASE at a GREAT PRICE!!!!

Almost Perfect
This is the latest of many
trackball
s I have used for personal and business use. The new
optical
tracking is a huge improvement over the old wheels that could get dirty and be a pain. The scroll wheel is also much more useful than the older versions. I'm currently using a one of the silver/blue trackballs with 5 direct launch buttons and this optical one. Love them both, but far prefer the optical.
My ONLY issue, and the reason it gets a 4, is that I wish there was an optical
mouse
with the direct launch buttons. They are lifesaving for the work that I do, and I'm forced to use an older mouse on that computer until there is another option (if that ever happens).
