I wish every cookbook could be like this!
Every recipe I've tried has been delicious. I prefer recipes like these that have a relatively short list of healthy, available ingredients and have the nutitional value per serving included. The Honest Meat Loaf is my all-time favorite meatloaf, and is a hit with guests. I usually
double
the recipe and freeze one. China Clipper Steamed Shrimp has a (literally) finger-lickin' sauce. It's messy to eat (the shrimp are pealed afer
cooking
in a drippy, hot (temperature) sauce)but the
taste
is divine. Bachelor's-Prize Chicken is very quick to make and the basis for a delicious solo dinner. Apple-Stuffed Acorn Squash is a great fall side dish -- I used maple syrup and added some chopped walnuts to the apples. I keep looking for other healthy cookbooks like this one! too different for me
This book is far too focused on vegetarian food. The meat entree sections are not plentiful. Most of the recipes are for foods that are off my radar, but I'll be willing to try some. I got this as a gift and frankly I'm going to be looking for a different book.
I Love This Book!
I bought this book over 10 years ago on our honeymoon in Hawaii. We lived in Japan for the first 4 years of marriage and this book was well used, not only because of the small recipe proportions but also because the recipes gave me an easy
taste
of "home".
We now have three little kids and I still use this book - now mostly as a jumping off point.
I love the ease of the recipes, the innovative ideas in the intros, and the variety of healthful recipes. Some favorites are whole-wheat pizza dough (fast and tasty), garlic baked mushrooms, Hong Kong Primavera with Spicy Peanut Sauce, and all of the different ways to "dress-up" bone-in chicken breasts.
This is one of my favorite wedding shower and graduation gifts!

The best cookbook ever!!
This is by far the best cookbook I have ever tried. In fact it is the first cookbook I ever bought - as a beginner I found it extremely easy to fol
low
. I have since tried other "1 or 2 person" cookbooks and they pale in comparison to this one. This cookbook actually does only have recipes for one or
two
people. All of the recipes are simple to make with no exotic ingredients. I have had this cookbook for almost a year now and have tried about 2/3 of the recipes in it - I honestly have really liked ALL of them! They are also quick and easy to prepare (some of course require baking time -
just
use that to do the dishes or make a salad or something). The recipes are also easy to
double
if
you
have company coming over or want leftovers (which reheat in the oven well). I also liked having the nutrition information at the bottom of every recipe (you can also cut down on
fat
/calories/sodium by buying 2% cheeses and canned items with no salt added, etc - just get creative). Finally most meals do not need a side, have a side with them, or a side is suggested - this really cuts down on meal planning time...and you won't be left hungry. The portion sizes are perfect and there are no leftovers. This is honestly the best cookbook I have ever bought or seen, especially for one or two people. I have bought this as a gift for my sister, my parents (they are empty-nesters now), and a few friends that are living on their own or newly married - I have only heard and experienced good things with this cookbook. I just wish Ms. Price would create more cookbooks, I would be first in line!

wonderful
Great recipes. Every dish has the nutritional information. Plenty of fresh ingredients with imaginative combinations. I've made plenty of them and most of them are good. Truly a standout. Pictures of the entrees would be nice though.
