Better with every read.

To be honest, I have read this book cover to cover about seven times now, and it never ceases to amaze me just how entertaining and insightful it is. Mick Foley truly is a unique human being. Not for the intense pain he has withstood over his career, but for the way he has stayed so grounded and humble throughout his life. I've met the man twice, and both occasions were greeted with a handshake, a quick and friendly chat, and me telling him how much I enjoyed his book.

Also, if you enjoyed this title, be sure to check out "Foley is Good" as well as "Tietam Brown". Both are very entertaining reads.

Have A Nice Review

The first of the WWF (now WWE) autobiographies, and still the best. Foley, unsatisfied with the way his ghost writer scripted his book initially, decided to write it himself. Certainly, Foley should be credited with trying to write alone, rather than just let his ghostwriter do the work for him, but it is a testament to Foley the man that he wants anything with his name on it to be true to himself.
Foley proves himself quite literate, despite first impression from a guy who competes in matches with barbed wire and explosives, and taking over a dozen HARD chairshots to the head at the WWF's Royal Rumble 1999 Pay-Per-View. He also comes off as having quite a good sense of humor, not only about himself, but about the wrestling business in general.
One might also think that due to his "King of the Death Match" label that Foley might be a little arrogant, as people might think all pro wrestlers are, but Foley again proves people wrong, as he is quite humble about not only his beginnings, but also his rise to the top, becoming a WWF World Heavyweight Champion. Sure, it's not real competition, but to get the title demonstrates the company's confidence in your ability as a performer to draw crowds. Certainly everyone strives to have the confidence of their company behind them.
As Foley has stated numerous times, both in his book, and in interviews, yes, he has sustained some bodily harm in his matches. Yes, he may never be able to walk straight, or stand tall again. However, he has lived his dream. How many people can say that? As Foley himself states, the damage that has been done to him physically is a small price to pay for living out his dream.
An excellent read, wrestling fan or no.

An excellent book from an unexpected source

Mick Foley blew people's socks off with this masterpiece. He is a professional wrestler, now he is also an author who spent a record amount of time on the New York Times Bestseller's List with this book. It goes into graphic detail of his own personal experiences with growing up, travelling around the world, and life on the road with a family. I highly suggest everyone to read "Have a Nice Day" by Mick Foley. It will give u a new found respect for this man, even though he is a professional wrestler.

An amazing story of a Man who gives his life on the line

Mick Foley's first book a tale of blood and sweatsocks is the 748 page Autobiography of his life. From his humble begginings, to his Dude Love videos, all the way to the Hell in a Cell to now. He throws one liners, and cute stories inside a dramatic unfolding of his career. He talks about his injuries, friends other compinies, and everything he sees outside of the ring and inside. He talks about trips to stadiums, his family, his school days everything you wanted to know. A couple of chapters in your hooked. It takes you a while to soak up everything. It took me 6 months to read it. And what amazes me the most is he wrote all 748 by hand with a pen and paper. It is an interesting book and even if your not a fan of wrestling, it is still a good book to read if you want a nice story and some laughs.

not all its cracked up to be

this is the story of hardcore wrestling legend, mick foley aka cactus jack manson, cactus jack, the mutilater, the masked....,dude love and mankind.it sounds like a 8 year old wrote it.the guys vocabulary leaves much to be desired.and if youre looking for anything having to do much with wrestling, youve come to the WRONG place!all that hardcore legend stuff goes straight out the window and all thats left is a bunch of corny rhymes, boring talk about bs going on in his uninteresting life outside of wrestling.what im trying to say is.........................heres a guy who is known for getting dropkicked off the ring apron by mil mascaras and landing hard on the back of his head and then shrugging it off and going on.he also use to perform a running elbow drop off the apron omto the floor.he beat sandman into a concussion with a cast iron skillet.he wrestled with barbed wire as a glove around his forearm.hes wrestled in japan in glass, barbed wire, electric barbed wire, exploding rings, beds of nails,on bricks, with ladders and god only knows what else.never bothered to mention any of it but to tell the rules of the jap death match tournament and about mil.he also left all wrestling history out too like when he fought his 1st match in ecw vs the real hardcore icon sabu too see who was the most hardcore man and cactus LOST!his cheap pops couldnt save him.now dont get me wrong,i think cactus jack is one of the top 5 greatest wrestlers ever, but this book sucks!so do all of his other personas.he should have just let his in ring phenomenon speak for itself!-sorry mick.
