Great Monitor -- but calibration with MacBook Pro is tricky

I think that this is a great monitor, especially for video and photos, etc.

However, it took me a couple of hours to get it properly calibrated to use with my MacBook Pro running 10.5.2. It took me a while to figure out that because the resolution of the monitor exceeds that of the built-in LCD that I had to set up mirroring, then close the laptop to put it to sleep, then wake it up with my external keyboard or mouse. With the laptop closed, finally the screen looked sharp! With the laptop open, because the resolution problem everything was very fuzzy.

Here's what I did to calibrate the monitor:

Resolution: 1680 x 1050

Display Preference Calibration:
Native Gamma slider is right in middle.
Standard Gamma
Native White Point

Monitor settings:
Brightness and Contrast at 100%
Custom Color with R and G at 255 and Blue at 185

Not sure this is the perfect monitor for a mac, but the adjustability and the built-in USB and cord management are very nice. Once it's calibrated, it looks pretty good.

Excellent Monitor but it has an extremely wide stand

Great monitor for video and games. There is more glare than my old matte screen monitor. This is especially noticeable when viewing text in a room with sunlight reflecting on the surface. I have to close the blinds.

One concern is how wide the stand is. It's 11.5 inches deep which takes up almost half my desk. If you have a narrow desk, this could be a concern.

Otherwise a fine and beautiful monitor.

Indeed this is a wonderful monitor. My only complaint is that you need a video card that supports HDMI to get it to work in Microsoft PowerPoint with the proper proportions.

So I am on the move looking for a videocard that supports HMI, and we all know what that is.

But the monitor is very much a keeper.

A Super One

I tried Acer AL2216Wbd, HP W2207 and studied other several same zise LCD monitors. This is a super one, most cost-effective one I think. Only concern is this one has only one-year limited warranty. You have to go to HP website to update warranty service.

Wonderful Monitor!

This is a great monitor, the colors are very rich and it has a very sleek design. I bought two monitors and they work great and it really improves productivity. I do a lot of research and reading for finance and they are perfect. There is an amazing amount of monitor space the design is gorgeous and it is for a very good price.

I ordered the DVI-HDMI cables through Amazon the 9.6ft ones from Cables to Go and they work very well and are reasonably priced, I would not order the expensive cables they are not necessary as the display is excellent.

The only comment is the speaker quality is a bit disappointing, so if that is very important to you I would take that into consideration, but other than that I would highly recommend this monitor.
