Sensational display & value!

Far better than several other more expensive models I looked at. No 'ghosting' with fast moving frames. Brilliant color and clarity. I really am impressed with this. Hookup was easy. I would recommend this highly, especially at this price point.

Samsung Quality

What can you say, Samgsung has done it again. Nothing bad about this monitor. I have an older Dell and was concerned about it being compatiable my system. When I hooked it up, it almost installed it's self. The CD that came with the monitor auto started and things were as smooth as silk. It's nice to be able to see all of your work and not have to scroll around.

The only thing I had to do was adjust my resolution a little and the brightness to suite my needs. Other than that no problems. Thanks Samgsung.

A No-Brainer If You Want A 19" Widescreen

Originally I purchased this monitor because 1440 x 900 was the highest resolution listed in my display adapter. However, when I plugged the 906BW into my computer, a whole slew of new resolutions appeared, including the 1680 x 1050 needed for the 20" widescreen. I ended up returning this monitor for a 20" HP w2007.

There is quite the difference in screen real estate between 19" and 20" as the 20" screens have a smaller dot pitch as well as higher resolution. But if you're absolutely sure you want a 19", you can't go wrong with the 906BW. Text was sharp, colors bright and I liked the OSD set up. I also liked the wide range of display options afforded by MagicColor and MagicBright3. Some settings were very bright and almost cartoonlike, which unfortunately washed out the lighter, pastel colors. (This is not just a Samsung problem, it's also the case with my HP, and probably a lot more LCDs.) In most cases you can lower the brightness settings, change to a different view, or turn off the MagicColor adjustment entirely.

I had no dead pixels and did not notice any backlight bleeding. I got squirrelly behavior when I used the DVI connection, however, the monitor couldn't detect the digital signal at boot up, so I would have to boot up with the VGA cable and then plug in the DVI cable. Then it would lose the signal after going to sleep so I couldn't wake the monitor. This is acknowledged as a problem with some ATI video cards (I have a Radeon x300) if you visit the AMD website. There is currently no solution, (other than using VGA only) so be warned.

Under the VGA connection, text on the 906BW looked a little smudged, with the DVI connection, it was clean. Also, the 2000:1 contrast ratio is Dynamic Contrast, which is one of the MagicBright settings. As I've mentioned, this setting washes out light colors, and you can't tweak it. Otherwise I think the contrast ratio is 700:1.

The one thing that the Samsung had over the HP was brightness and whiteness levels, my HP's whites are inconsistent and not truly white, and I have looked at two different w2007s. If I slightly move in my seat I can see a color shift and it gets worse the closer it gets to the edge of the screen. I don't remember that behavior with the Samsung. I wish the HP were a little brighter. Still, both monitors are worlds better than the 10 yr-old CRT I had been using. One more thing -- one of the reviewers said this monitor has a glossy screen, mine had an anti-glare screen and so did the Samsungs in the retail store I visited. The bezel is glossy, but it didn't seem like he was referring to the bezel.

I bought the 906BW sight unseen because of the unrivalled specs and great reviews. I recommend checking out the displays in a brick and mortar. I preferred the glossy screen of the HP w2007. HP also offers a glossy 19" w1907. I was not impressed with the HP w19 which I assume is the previous model.

superior monitor

This monitor is great and Amazon has the greatest price on it. We have bought two of them. One for each of our computers. We are both extremely happy with our purchase. I would recommend this to everyone.
