Style over Substance (but very entertaining style)

I was, and am still impressed by the special effects. I really wish to see how the Blu-Ray version brings out even more of the visual excitement. I realize this has been stated once or twice before but it bears repeating, I just hope that anyone who has read the book is NOT expecting the real deal. Some reviews suggest that it holds faithful to the book in spirit if not in any other fashion. Asimov's vision of the future is at best some backdrop for car chases, shoot em ups, fight scenes and occasional witty banter. And even as a backdrop the book provides a scale and storyline the movie can't even hint at. I'd like to give it another star but to use the title and then go such a different direction, it doesn't seem fair. Enjoy the action, enjoy the color and flair - then read the book. Perhaps in another decade or so special effects will be able to handle a more accurate rendition.

A good movie gets a sublime transfer to Blu-Ray!

I own 56 Blu-Ray movies, and I have to say, this one is the way I wish all of them looked. Jaw-dropping detail, vivid colors, and no artifacts to be seen anywhere. A flawless transfer to HD, and a equally excellent audio track (I can only hear the 1.5 mbps DTS right now, but I can imagine how much better the lossless track will be once PS3 can decode DTS-MA.) Highly recommended, assuming you like the movie itself.

Wow, i dont even know how to express how detailed this blu-ray disc is. I own about 30 blu-rays right now and this is one of the top picture quality. The audio is amazing, the 5.1 DTS track is very very well done. Great quality pared with a great sci-fi movie.

Fox really has their stuff together. Top notch all the way around.

I have to say that this release is beautiful. Veiwed on a Sony XBR4 monitor. Calibrated with the Digital Home Essentials disk. Audio used was a Sony DG910 receiver. Bose Acoustimass 16 series 2 speakers. Sony Playstation 3 was used for playback.

1st of all, the video is completely free of any dirt, scratches, blemishes what so ever. Pristine. Colors are very bright and vivid. Flesh tones are not only perfect, but the very, very detailed. Being that this is a relatively new film to begin with. The standard DVD release was already nice. But, this is a great improvement. Especially if you are viewing it on a 1080P monitor. Day scenes are super clean. Night scenes have very deep black, that hold throughout. On a visual scale, you can consider this " reference quality ". This is why High Def exists.

On the sound, the quality is top notch. Very clean, crisp, and lively. All ranges of sound are acheived. As many know, Bose are known for their precise mid range sound. People who have " bigger " sound systems will probably get more out of the 5.1 DTS than I did. But, Im not complaining.

As far as the movie goes. I think it is a great Sci-Fi adventure. Not just another typical shoot'em up movie. This movie explores the notion of what could come in the future, when machines are fully intergrated into our society. And, the consequences of to much reliance on them for everyday life. Also explores the possibility of machines, developing a conscience of their own. Feelings, emmotions and so on. Interesting blend of action with some thought provoking ideas.

Overall grade for picture would be a solid A. Sound an A also. If you love Sci-Fi, you will probably enjoy this film. It appeals to all levels of Sci-Fi fans. Enjoy this super clean release.

its a great movie and we got it at an AWESOME price... but the bar code was cut out! lol! think it was stolen... however we did get it on time as well. overall, satisfied
