Confused customer

I bought this monitor to replace a wrist blood pressure monitor that I think gives falsely low readings. It gives readings significantly higher than wrist monitor but generally in line with other readings taken on machines in Walmart and at the YMCA.

On a recent trip to doctor's office the nurse read 128/76; the doctor took a reading himself of 140/80; an electronic monitor in doctor's office read 168/77; and my wrist monitor read 130/71. This Omron monitor read 154/80 which did not closely agree with the systolic pressure that both nurse and doctor measured. It is the difference between having high blood pressure needing medication and being OK. All readings were taken very close together. I question its accuracy to some extent, and now I question the whole idea that blood pressure can be read with much precision by any method.

My final conclusion is that blood pressure varies greatly at different times of the day and depending on exactly how it is taken. About the most I can hope for is general idea that it is either high or about right.

Easy and Fast

The monitor is quick ,and easy and I get the reading back fast. I checked it by my doctor's monitor and it is accurate!

I have tried other products and this one was close to the reading my doctor got. If you buy this one or another take it to your Doctor and ask if the Nurse can check to see if its within tolerance. I had one that was lower then the Doctor's office by 12 on the top number and about 7 on the lower. This one is right around the rage as you will not find one that gives the same as the Doctor's office. Some people say the Doctor's is wrong, well I doubt that since theres are about the most accurate and standard...and by theres I mean the cuff they pump up and listen with the ear things they use. The display is clear and easy to read and it shows the date and then switches to time so you know exactly when you took it. Read the instructions so you clearly understand it. Also tells you of irreguar heart beat. Anyway I like it so hope this helps.

Down side is no cuff holder and only remembers for one person but thats ok since I new that when I bought it. Anyway Omron makes good stuff and I have there scales and there with in 1/2 pound at Doctor's office so I'm sticking with Omron
