Nice Screen, Accurate but Experiencing "Reboots"

I've been using the Mio c520 for a couple of weeks now and it is a decent GPS. This is my first GPS so I don't really have anything to compare it against. I have only used the GPS functions so far and cannot comment on the other features such as music, photos or bluetooth.

What I Like:

The widescreen of the Mio is very good. I like the split screen with the information to the right which is easy to monitor and is very informative.

The unit is very informative in regards to when to make turns and I like having the next street name or exit number displayed where it is easy to find.

The routes suggested by the system are OK. There is a secondary road I prefer to travel that runs parallel to a primary road that Mio wants to use and I haven't figured out how to get Mio to use it. When I travel via the secondary road, Mio does the route recalculation but, instead of recognizing that the road I'm on will get me to the same point, it keeps directing me to turn back to the road it wants me to be on.

The low price is a nice selling point for this device.

What I don't Like:

In two weeks of ownership, I've experienced at least 5 "reboots" of Mio while driving. The system just shuts down and I have to select through the menu options to get back into MioMap. Once MioMap is running again, the route you were on is still selected but it is concerning that these shutdowns are occurring. I haven't contacted Mio support, yet.

Battery life is terrible. I'm only getting about 1.5 hours per charge so I have to keep the car charger handy when driving on trips longer than that.

In the Information screen, the only POI's it lists are gas stations. Haven't figured out how to get other POI's to show up.

Summary:
I would recommend this unit if you want to get a decent GPS for under $250. However, I suggest doing some extensive research to determine if this rebooting problem has been reported by others before making a final decision.

4.3" clear screen , also can be used as speaker because of the bluetooth.
very easy to use. can lead you also to the nearest supermarket / gas station / parking etc.

Impressed so far!

When I started it for the first time, it correctly showed I am in Jacksonville, Florida though I am in Denver. Since then it has performed very well.

I have owned it for just a few days. I did take it for a long 1500 mile trip to New Mexico. The maps are accurate. The POI database is excellent. The bluetooth connectivity is excellent (Blackberry Pearl). I have been unsuccessful with MP3 from an SD Card and hence 4* stars.

The background changes to black in the night with red and blue lines for roads. I used to have a Magellan 4250, it was very irritating with a bright GPS in front of you in the night. C520's night time mode is an excellent feature. The audio out is another excellent feature. It comes with 2.5mm audio out, but you can buy an adapter to go to 3.5mm. In fact the adapter can be plugged into the GPS to stop the voice direction. Address entry is easy, it only shows letters that are possible as you start typing. The split screen is another great feature. It shows current time, time of arrival, time of journey, vehicle speed, distance and distance to next exit/turn. It also reads out street names and route recalculation is fast and accurate.

All in all, a great GPS.

Great GPS for the cash.

About 10 min. of setup and it was up and running, play songs in background with GPS software running. I linked my phone with it and love that I can receive calls and make them with the GPS running, Sound is not too bad. Overall I like it, not sure if they are putting out updateds, but would love to see some. As a side note Mio / Navman are now one, maybe we will see updates soon.
