Kaspersky Internet Security 7.0 3 (KIS 7.0.3)
This review compares KIS 7.0.3 to Norton Systemworks 2007. I have been a long time Norton
user
. Having gone through one of the norton removal orderals, I chose KIS 7.0.3 instead. Norton would always add latency to the computer response when it was processing, which was most of the time. Norton was always process hungry with a total process count of 68 to 70. Now it runs with 60 to 62 under KIS 7.0.3. KIS 7.0.3 is less invasive and updates every hour or when necessary. WIth KIS 7.0.3, the hard drives cycles much less; the computer runs quiter.
Best AV suite - period.
Kaspersky
has proven themselves time and time again to have the best detection & removal rates. This is the AV product to get regardless of your PC skill level. You can configure this with a basic level and still get protection better than Symantec or McAfee, or do it up as an expert
user
blocking websites, IP ranges, applications, ports, e-mail senders/domains, etc. for the ultimate in
security
.
This is the only AV program I've used for the last 5 years (different
version
s, naturally) and I've never had a virus, spyware, or other '
Internet
nuisances' on my PC. Kaspersky's warning system is very easy to understand and immediately halts Internet traffic until an Allow or Block is clicked for a suspected malicious application / activity. The system scans are very low-impact to your system (I'm actually typing this review while performing a system scan). The background protection takes almost no resources. The installed program f
old
er itself is only 18MB, and it actually fully removes itself (no 'remnants' are left behind in various folders and the Registry, unlike Symantec or McAfee), if for some reason you decide to uninstall the product. This is the product I recommend to everyone, regardless of Internet savvy or PC skill level.

Better than most anti-virus software I've tried
I have tried Norton, Mcafee, Trend, and this one is the best so far. Norton just takes over your machine and cpu and leaves its footprint everywhere on an uninstall, Mcafee misses some viruses, and Trend doesn't give you much control over its product. At first install
Kaspersky
is slow in running and seems to make your hard drive run in background on its own, but apparently this is how it is designed. The first week or so, it is in learning mode and does a lot of things in the background, but after a week, it settled down and is performing quite well. It even caught a trojan virus on one of my disks.
One drawback I've found is that it has a 'create rescue disk' facitlity, but you have to install 3rd party product and configure it, and this product isn't fully ompatible with Vista yet. Plus the install and configuration of this product isn't straightforward. I feel that Kaspersky should incorporate this product, or its own
version
, with it's regular install or something like it and make the 'create rescue disk' process seamless to
user
s. Otherwise, I love and highly recommend this anti-virus product.
