This Movie Is One Of My ALL-TIME Top 10 Picks

While reading Kirk Douglas autobiography (The Ragman's Son), I was extremley gratified, when he stated that of all the movies he had made this was his favorite. Gratified, because this is my favorite Kirk Douglas movie. The essence of this movie, I feel, is that Jack Burns (Douglas) is truly free. The administration or civilization cannnot tolerate this and attempts to distroy him. The movie closes with Jack Burns, having been shot, riding off on his horse with helicopters, etc. in pursuit. I always like to think that he finally did escape.

This is my favoret film.

It's been several years since I seen it and wonder if the film is still around. It is my favorite film even know it is out of date. END

I saw this film so many years ago and it's still with me.

In "True West", a play by Sam Sheppard, one of his characters makes reference to this title, saying, "that wasn't a film, that was a movie". He holds it up as a yardstick against which all movies should be measured. A simple plot with few characters, but very compelling. A fine American film.

Kirk Douglas's favorite movie

In an interview Kirk Douglas said he was prouder of this movie than anything else he had done. Rightfully so. It is an excellent film full of symbolism and thoughtful storytelling. Watch for a lot of soon to be big stars in the supporting roles.
