Simply Life Changing

This book is bold and I love that! I love the boldness of stating "I AM God", believing it, and being empowered to create by it. This is a God that I understand, one that makes sense rather than the God I heard about in churches growing up. It finally put into black and white what I've intuitively known but didn't understand. It also filled in several missing gaps which were holding me back from being God and creating what he wants me to create.

One of my favorite things is that the author guides you in handling other people's reactions to your changes. I've struggled with letting people go from my life and now I've realized that if they aren't there to stay, they aren't from God. I've lost some "friends" but that's good. :-) There are several places in the book where he tells you how people will react to your new words and actions so you can spot them and handle appropriately.

He also addresses that having a job is giving someone else control over your power to create. That will rock people's minds as our society has been conditioned to "go to school and get a good job". I was guilty myself until about a year ago.

Now that I've read and used the ideas in the book, I'm creating my vision from God - an international company that will help millions. I will use this book to make sure I stay on track as God tests me, sends me cracked plates, and helps me soar. I won't be letting anyone borrow it - I'll have to buy them their own copy.

Sadly, the reality is that several of the things in this book will anger a lot of people. It's not for the close-minded or people who want to live in their own pity party. If you want to expand your mind, change your thinking, and become a "Favor-ite", buy this book and read it now! If you're scared, all the better - God rewards risk.

Book worth reading

I consider this book to be one of the best of self-help/spirituality books I have read during this year (about 25 of them). Anyway, let's review it step-by-step:

1. Theme and writing style: The title "The Laws of Thinking" suggests (at least to me) something slightly different from the real content of this book. I was a little bit surprised that all the way this book is talking a lot about God and our connection with him. The word "God" is present in almost every of book's paragraphs. So as the first warning - this book may be absorbed with difficulties by people who are not ready to think more deeply about God. On the other hand, it could show real new horizons for them concerning the idea of what God is and what his characteristics are.
Truth is that the subtitle "20 Secrets to Using the Divine Power of Your Mind to Manifest Prosperity" contains word "divine", which surely is some cue, but there are also other subjects as "secret" or "prosperity" which will draw more attention (everybody wants to know secrets and everybody wants to prosper).
Another clue would be that author is a bishop, which also projects in author's writing style through whole book. I would describe it as "preacher-like" - a lot of material is written like "This is the truth, God wants this, I give you no real evidence, but believe it for your own good."

2. Content and structure: There are 20 laws, to each of them one chapter is devoted. Some laws are very practical from the first sight (eg. The Law of Risk: You will never achieve great things without going out on the edge and risking), some more likely raise questions like "OK, and what is in it for me specifically?" (eg. The Law of Spirit: Spirit seeks to manifest in our reality, but it can only do so through man."). I do not disguise that the latter type of laws seemed a little bit foreign to me, as I personally put emphasis mainly on the practical side of spirituality and how to connect it with everyday real life. But all in all, even when the particular law wasn't too much beneficial, the material around it in according chapter always compensated it, so as a result in every chapter I found some really helpful and empowering ideas.

3. Problematic/dangerous areas: Author's frequent games with English words. At the peak of it stands the equation "Therapist = The Rapist". As one of the reviewers already wrote - author must be kidding. In fact, I find the two small paragraphs about therapy and how Mr. Jordan does not believe in it to be the weakest part of the book, where in my opinion author walks on thin ice and tries to divert readers from psychotherapy without knowing much about it. If reader was interested in psychotherapy, surely he would read other books for this purpose. I wonder how interview between Mr. E. Bernard Jordan and for example Mr. M. Scott Peck (when he was alive) would look like.
Another example from book was reference to similarity between words "church" and "crutch". It reminded me of an old piece of wisdom: When you take word "love", replace first three letters with "ber" and shuffle the letters, you get word "beer" and that can't be coincidence!
One last idea about word games - my native language is Czech, and in this language most of the author's word games do not work. Does it mean that in my country those laws do not apply, or that English is higher form of language, or even that God speaks English? Arguments based on word similarity are insulting basic people intelligence in my opinion, and it was the main reason to put one star down in book rating (although I know this is maybe too strict).
There are also some possible dangerous things which I remember, among them:
- if someone does not help me in my plan, I should walk away from him
- in chapter about money - give your money away, believe in God, and money will come back to you in greater numbers
This book is no easy read and I can imagine people who take some ideas too literally, which would result to more harm done than benefits. But probably this isn't books fault - everyone is responsible for his own actions. If I do something blindly without any understanding, just because I have read some sentence in a book, the responsibility is still mine and I alone must face consequences. Two basic words from book Coaching for Performance by John Whitmore come into my mind: AWARENESS and RESPONSIBILITY.

4. Overall conclusion: Although so far this review seemed to be rather negative, the statement from the first sentence in the review is true - after reading this book I felt very empowered to try the new things in life I always wanted but was afraid to. It assured me in my feeling that I should pay more effort to learn about and practice meditation, where hopefully more of my life purposes and goals will be revealed, and also to continue reading books and gain knowledge from them. Last but not least, I feel stronger tendency and less fear to network with people which possess qualities which I am looking for.
Again, this book is no easy read, it needs a lot of thinking, but I believe it is 100% worth reading for everyone seeking to bring his life to new heights.

Bishop Jordan has written a stellar work that is guaranteed to free the mentally enslaved, acquit the wrongfully charged, and bring healing to the sick. The Laws of Thinking is not a work for the shallow-minded person. It is demanding and challenging. It is neither intended to be used as the basis for unmerited criticism nor as sermon material for the minister having difficulty receiving a fresh work from the Lord. It was written with a very clear aim: to provoke spiritual thought. Bill Gates' Microsoft, Oprah Winfrey's Harpo Productions, Stephen Spielberg's DreamWorks, and even his own Zoe Ministries all began with a thought.

Every invention, university, book, song, business, home, skyscraper, movie, stage play, and baby began when someone chose to think. Nothing happens without thought. Creation did not happen without God's thought. Bishop Jordan's first objective is getting you to think.
