remember the carrot

Two enthusiastic thumbs up for this beautifully written book about one man's journey and all the people he encounters along the way. Not only will I read this book again, I will buy it for gift's as well. I highly recommend this book that is so wonderfully descriptive you feel like your right there to anyone who want's a little inspiration.

Carrot Pie!

An amalgamation of alliteration, adventure, allegory, and auto-awareness, postulated by a post-pubescent pursuer of pertinent perspective. Not an Appalachian Trail guide for hikers, this is really two stories: the adventure of a very long and eventful hike; and a sampler of the author's experiences for those who might, like him, choose the AT experience for their personal rite of passage. Laced with humor, frustration, disappointment, and triumph, this fun read shows much of life's purpose is to truly experience the trip (including the trips!).

A must read for Real Life and Armchair Adventure Travelers alike!

This is definitely a "must read" for adventurers of all backgrounds. It is not a guide, but a journey. And it speaks to the hearts of many who are on their own journeys...desiring to break free from the rat race... to break free from the box that seems to smother them. As someone who has sought the solitude and companionship of the Appalachian Trail to fight my own dragons, I am excited and encouraged by reading Aaron's story. And as someone who actually met him during his hike, it's even more exciting to hop a ride in his pack and experience Aaron's journey to self-discovery. Just as Aaron had to evaluate his old life and the paradigms by which he'd lived his life, his book will challenge you to the same. If you are contemplating a thru-hike...Do It! Aaron is an example of the thousands of people who set off on that life changing journey every year. Let his story be an encouragement for you to pursue whatever carrot dangles before you. Fully of Inspiration

This novel is wonderful! In a time when my life was unsure of what I was going to do, this helped me see I could go for it and achieve it. This is a must read. I will read "Remember the Carrot" over and over again!

It's as if I was there!!!

This book was fantastic. I felt like I was right there hiking the trail and meeting these people. The author has a way with his words that makes you feel the feelings and hear the conversations. This was one of those books that you want to get back to quickly, so you can experience what's going to happen next. Great Book!!!

After realizing that his life had lost its savor, Aaron dares to season it with adventure on the Appalachian Trail, where serendipity and toil would weave a path of self-discovery, a change of world view, and delightful (and some odd) characters and turns of events. Step into Aaron's boots for 2,167 miles of peaks and valleys-physically, mentally and spiritually-as he backpacks north from Georgia to Maine. You'll find yourself itching to throw on your own boots and hit the Trail... whether your boots are made of leather or long lost goals or new aspirations!
