SYNOPSIS:
The time is 1814, the place is a ball taking place in London. Anna Randal is the kind of woman who fades into the background so she makes the perfect companion for one of the season's debutants. When she sees the mysterious, darkly handsome Conde Cezar leaving the ball to go upstairs Anna figures he is going to meet the very person she is supposed to protect from scandal. Imagine her surprise when Anna turns out to be the one who has the scandalous night of passion with Cezar. And, oh yes, he just happens to be a vampire. Now, fast forward two hundred years to a party in Chicago where Anna has finally tracked Cezar down. She intends to find out exactly what happened when he bit her during that passionate night. She knows she isn't a vampire but she sure can't figure out exactly what is going on in her life.
OPINION:
For me, a mildly entertaining
book
. There were too many incidences of the author reverting to the "cutsies" as I call them for me to take the book very seriously. Even though the legend of King Arthur and his sister Morgana le Fay played a very large part in the story it just never developed any tension for me, no excitement, not very much atmosphere. The author tried and there were some engaging characters with my favorite being the gargoyle Levet or maybe Troy the imp who always wears spandex in brilliant colors. Cezar hissed all the time. Anna took forever to discover what her "gift" was. The author couldn't resist having Anna say "Beam me up Scotty" when she was traveling from one dimension to another. The women all seemed to have a scent, either apple, figs or pomegranate. How was I supposed to view all of this as "dark" or "wild" as the cover suggests?
RECOMMENDATION:
I read this story (actually book #4 in the series) first. Maybe that was my mistake. I don't think so. Read this if you want a change from dark, menacing paranormal stories. For me, it was just too cute for words. I do have the other books in the series but I think I will be able to resist reading them for a very long time. A word of advice: Don't do as I do, do as I say. I always buy all the books in a series before I've tried a new author. Don't do that! I'm learning, but it's taking a while for the lesson to fully sink in.

Vampires, Oracles, Gargoyles, Oh my!
This is number four in the "
Guardians
of
Eternity
"
book
s. She has another coming out Dec. 09. She is an interesting writer. She is not as crude as other similar books I have read, which was refershing for me. Her books are still erotic but also much more about magic, brotherhood, warriors, mates, and even friendships. There are many, many, many different demons so she will probably be writing several more additions which will be fun to watch the characters evolve and also her writing skills grow.
Thank you for the fun Ms. Ivy.

Different Plot
Ivy's work is just getting better. I love how diverse and intricate your story lines are. The main characters in this installment are Ceazar and Anna.
Ceazar is a Spanish vampire who falls for Anna Randall a seminally harmless orphan. When he takes her one night in the 1800 in a fit a passion Anna is clearly never the same for a few reasons. One Ceazer takes off and never returns leaving her heartbroken and feeling used and two she returns to her home where her aunt was taking care of her only to find it burned to the ground.
A few hundred years later Ceazar reappears at a gala in Chicago and Anna is there. She has tracked him down wanting to know who or what he is, why he left her, and why she or he has not aged. That's when the fun begins of course.
To make the story short (warning: spoilers) Anna is the distant granddaughter of King Arthur and her distant Aunt is Morgana the evil witch "Fairy" sister of King Arthur. Morgana has made it her duty to track down every last living heir of Arthur and kill them for it was prophesized that one of his heirs would finally kill her. Anna is that heir and Anna is very powerful, Anna has no idea though in the beginning how to focus her talents.
Ceazar meanwhile has been held captive by the oracles for the last 200 hundred years because he took the virginity of Anna. The oracles protest that she is the next oracle in line, and those only come around every 2 thousand years give or take. They finally let him loose with the understanding that he is to protect Anna from the coming battle over her life. To which he does.
(Spoiler) This all climaxes in a huge battle between Anna and Morgana (with a little help from King authors dead ghost) and Morgana is killed.
When Anna goes up before the oracles she professes her love for Ceazar and asks that she be given more time with him before she takes on the duties of a oracle. They agree.
The story line brings into play all the charaters from the past novels and a new one that sounds interesting and will be the next focus.
Enjoy. I wouldn't say this was the best in the series, not as good as the last one, but still a fun read.
