Burning Questions

This is probably my favorite romance novel, ever. I simply could not put it down. Looking forward to Elaine Busby's next novel. Steamy, intriguing, fast moving and so well written. You must read this.

Burning Questions - Burning page turner! Hot! Hot! Hot!

Elaine Busby's first novel is a fictional account of a features reporter for a local TV station, who is pressed into duty covering a suspicious and devastating fire at a large Portland candy factory.

Busby does a magnificent job developing the complex characters that make up the story - so much so that the reader feels like we know their inner most thoughts, personalities, values, insecurities & dreams well before book's end..

We are taken along for a wild ride through Portland Oregon's sights and sounds, best restaurants, parks, waterfront and vistas which are masterfully woven into this seductive tale of lust, later love consummated with an almost how to manual of sexual eroticism. (Busby could teach a human sexuality improvement class with her "anatomically correct" descriptions of Kelly and Steve's romance in Chapter 16).

Busby captivates the reader until the mystery is solved with a totally unexpected conclusion but leaves room for a sequel, which is all but guaranteed. A chapter about "Wednesday's Child" - possibly drawn from Busby's real life exposure to victimized and abused children is a real tear jerker giving the protagonist emotional depth and empathy.

This novel will appeal to anyone who is curious about what goes on behind the camera and talking heads of a modern TV newsroom. It is here Busby brings her considerable professional TV experience to bear in bringing to light the frenetic, high pressure, competitive, behind the scenes environment, the viewer and reader are usually kept in the dark about.

Burning questions is more than a steamy romance novel. It's a work of fiction but one that is obviously drawn from real life experiences and that does more than just entertain. It provides fascinating insight into the heart, mind and psyche of today's high intensity TV journalist, whilst giving the reader new reasons to explore the Oregon coast and the Rose City.

I recommend this book highly but don't leave it around where your teenager might find it. You might not ever get it back!

Great 1st Novel!

Wow! I picked up this novel while on vacation and couldn't put it down. I love how the characters were developed and their stories woven together, and completely identified with Kelly and her internal monolog...but I also wanted to jump in and shake her a little. Elaine Busby does a great job of giving the readers insight into the life of a reporter and a taste for the life in the Northwest. Like others have said, it's a steamy and engrossing read!

As TV reporter Kelly Moran negotiates Portland OR s streets to get to a press conference covering the arson fire at Hart Candy, a couple of assumptions form in her mind. First, the owner of a candy company must surely be a portly man well into his golden years. Second, it seemed likely that Hart had a hand in starting the blaze which destroyed his candy company. One look at Steve Hart trim and handsome cancelled Kelly s first assumption, but she couldn t be so sure about the second. His concerns seem heartfelt, but Kelly can t silence her reporter s suspicious questions. How did those secretive phone calls figure in? Who stood to gain if the candy company was out of business? Was Steve Hart really attracted to her or was he simply looking for some journalistic cover? As Kelly searches for answers, she realizes that he own heart has added to the list of burning questions.
