CIA Plot - Motives, Evidence, Unanswered Questions

This amazing book has both scholarly integrity and engaging readability, yet more is needed. The book carefully documents JFK's transformation from strident Cold Warrior to embattled peace activist, engaged in secret negotiations with Khrushchev and Castro. Embattled because powerful elements of the military and CIA were pushing him hard toward a nuclear first strike against the Soviets, a US invasion of Cuba, and an escalation of the War in Vietnam.

The Bay of Pigs and the Cuban Missile Crisis turned Kennedy against the warmongering generals and the CIA, and they turned against him. Having provided a motive, Jim Douglass's thesis is that the CIA organized the assassination, using powerful allies. To this end, Douglass documents 40 years of accumulated evidence of Oswald's involvement with the CIA, even the FBI, and of evidence against the "lone gunman" theory and for the subsequent cover-up.

Douglass focuses only on evidence that seems most reliable and provides extensive footnotes, using a variety of archival sources, even his own interviews in a few cases. Yet we are left with a lack of insight into Oswald himself - his deeper motives and how he viewed his role in these events. We are also still left somewhat confused about what actually happened on the day of the assassination, especially what Oswald did as opposed to an Oswald impersonator and of the identities of the assassins.

We are given names of CIA agents and Cuban exiles who involved in various ways at various times, but the details of their final roles are left unresolved. In fact, Douglass admits that we still don't know who actually orchestrated the whole affair or how, except that many were involved. Nor does Douglass cross-examine evidence that might contradict his thesis. Also un-examined is the Mafia role, though I've heard that the Mafia story line gives primacy to the CIA despite RFK's crackdown on them.

What is still needed is a deep legal investigation, preferably by an international court, into the dark secrets of the Cold War (CIA, military, FBI) - who did what, when, where, and why. Everyone must have their say, with all secrecy oaths and acts nullified. Contradictory evidence and competing hypotheses must be presented by their best advocates and resolved when possible, with points of both agreement and disagreement clearly identified.

The book could use a bibliography and index, also less repetition in places, yet I highly recommend it. Jim Douglass has done us a great service by marshaling critical evidence and letting it speak for itself.

If you are not quite sure you believe there was a conspiracy and have an open mind, this is for you

This book is so well written and weaves the assassination story in with all of the political turmoil that JFK was going though perfectly. I would recommend this one to anyone who is on the fence about a conspiracy or even a Warren Commission believer. It is written in a way that does not come off over the top kooky like many of these books do. Everything is presented in a logical manner and you don't get the feeling that the author is reaching to make something there that isn't. I don't think it will turn off open minded people who still think Oswald was guilty. The ratings speak for themselves here on this one. Even without the conspiracy part, the little known but well documented cold war history presented here is worth the read alone.

If I could just get my Dad to read it.....

A rare masterpiece reveals the truth

I am an attorney at law and I believe in facts and evidence.

I have read many brillant books on the JFK" assassination; but
now, there comes the one that puts all pieces and loose ends finally
together and combines it with the recently disclosed government files.

This marvellous author, Professor of theology, James W. Douglass, puts the obvious facts, the
overwhelming evidence, masterfully and meticulously together. The
evidence presented, which coincides with so many other researcher's
evidence and witness reports, carefully combines it, so that now, for
the first time, we can finally see the clear and ugly picture
appearing in the puzzle:
>
Oswald was in fact innocent, the CIA killed the President of the
United States of America. The next President, Lyndon B. Johnson,
together with the FBI's powerful Edgar E. Hoover, and the CIA, the
murder agency itself, covered it up, out of own interest. Evicence was
falsified, witnesses and co-conspirators killed, commission members
and witnesses threatened to silence.

>
This book is a rare and brilliant masterpiece.

Thank you James W. Douglas.
>
The case « JFK « is closed but the long path for the American people
to learn and finally accept the atrocious truth about this crime of
the century has just begun.

James W. Douglass is a couragous man because he will go through hell; they will try to destroy his character, his reputation, as they did in the recent years with so many critics of the official Government version of the JFK assassination.

Witnesses were silenced, killed, commission members were threatened, evidence destroyed and falsified. James W. Douglass is a real brave citizen, accurate in his analysis and incorruptable. We, who read his masterpiece, now know the truth.

Best book on JFK research on the assassination

Take a look at this book. You will be blown away by the research done into this. There will be little question in your mind as to who was behind this disgraceful moment in American History. One of the best books I have ever read and I wholeheartedly recommend you to read it and consider it as a gift to those who are interested in this subject.
OUTSTANDING!

Historian James Douglass proves not only that there was a conspiracy to assassinate JFK, but more importantly (for the first time) explains WHY.
