Great for the young or old
There
's a Boy in The Girls' Bathroom is an excellent book conveying the feelings of kids trying to find their place among one another. Louis Sachar does a wonderful job explaining the emotions involved in being an outcast and the complicated reasons for odd behavior. While easily speaking to children about the passive aggressive nature of friendships, adults also are able to gain insight into one another. There's a stern scolding to parents who get so caught up in grades and preparing for their child's future that they forget about their present day feelings and needs.
Sachar blends a nice amount of humor into the book, keeping the book from getting too heavy with emotional tugging. It's a touching book but joyful as well. It reminds the young and old alike to appreciate one another and approach each other with tolerance as well.

Best Book I ever Read!
I love this book! It is the best book I ever read, besides "The Boy Who Lost His Face", another book by Louis Sachar. Here's a plot summay: Bradley Chalkers is a boy who is misbehaved and has no friends. A pushover boy then becomes his friend, and his attitude starts becoming more and more like Bradleys. Bradley goes to his school counsel, where he falls in love with the counselor, Carla. He begins to change into a very nice boy.
This Book is a must-read for children ages 8-14.
good middle-reader book with a unique voice
Bradley is a bad kid. He never does his homework, he doesn't play well with others. Then a new, young guidance councilor, Carla, sees the good in Bradley and helps him to make friends with the new student, Jeff. Sachar's child-like prose helps to capture the difficult world of childhood and being an outsider. A good middle grade read that doesn't quite move beyond average, though it does jerk a few tears. Grade: B-

Reluctant Readers Can't Put This Book Down

at an elementary school. I teach 5th and 6th grade students who need extra help in reading. A lot of my students are reluctant readers, but they love this book--they don't want to put it down. I highly recommend it for 4th-6th grade kids.
Very funny
This is a very funny, easy-to-read book for kids. The issues they face in this book - like loneliness and wanting to please parents - are issues that every kid can relate to. The moral of the story is to be yourself, and it comes very naturally.
